    E-BIAB... Is it worth it?

I use auberin ez boil for control. I do not fire the element during the mash. Heat it to strike temp, kill element, now you have normal BIAB. I have had no issues with conversion or hitting my OG. Throw a few blankets over kettle, stir at 20-30 minutes, and if I am feeling frisky I will pull the...

    E-BIAB... Is it worth it?

I use the ezboil for control. It's amazing.

    E-BIAB... Is it worth it?

Skip the recirc and enjoy the simplicity of BIAB. If you insulate or even jus throw a blanket on or two you will get minimal temp drop. Move to 10 gallon batches and it will hold heat really well. I just don't see the pump being worth the work/complexity. Ebiab without recirc has cut my brew day...

Good to hear! I just ordered one. Stoked about moving to electric!

    Tips for winter brewing?

Looking to brew electric in my un-heated garage. Will there be any issues with condensation if I brew with everything closed up?

Any additional thoughts/experiences on these elements now that a few months have passed?

House Lights, Electric Heat, Winter, and Entropy

Technology!!! Days of electric resistance backup are over. There are several models of heat pumps out there that are rated down to -13F and maintain 100% capacity down to 5F and 75% capacity at -13F. I just had an 18,000btu/hr unit installed for $4000...

House Lights, Electric Heat, Winter, and Entropy

You are missing a key assumption: that your heat source is also 100% efficient. Technology has moved beyond that though. Ductless Mini-splits are performing at COP's above 2, more than doubling the efficiency of your lights.

Mind sharing your recipe and results?

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

If you were to brew a NE IPA inspired extract version (I understand it wont be the same) and would only be doing late/flameout hop additions, does this even need an extended boil? Boil for sanitation and then cut flame?

    10 gallon biab

Really?! I am about 5 batches in, so I am still learning, but this surprises me. Have you done some tests on this?

    Festbier BierMuncher's OktoberFAST Ale (AG)

Fermented this at 64 with Wyeast 1450 Denny's favorite 50. Incredible. My favorite recipe I have brewed.

Reasons to go all grain vs extract??

I just made this jump. Going from stove top partial boils to full volume boils required a burner upgrade though. No way an electric stove top extract brewer is making the jump without upgrading heat source (heat stick is another option).

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Before the beer cleared out, you could taste some saison flavor. It quickly faded, however. Between the Malto and the typical silky mouthfeel 3711 gives me, this beer had WAY more body and mouthfeel than the first batch. I would use 3711 in the future just for that. Made it feel like a beer.

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

I just started drinking my second variation. My goal was to add more body and to minimize the store bought cider bite. Complete success. I am thrilled with this version: 1lb wheat DME 1lb Light DME 8oz Crystal 120 8oz Honey Malt 2 oz torrified wheat 4oz Maltodextrin just under .5oz...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

I have mixed a hefeweizen and a fermented cider 50/50. I actually preferred it to the the graff.

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

I just brewed my second batch of this. The first was good but definitely a cider, not a beer. I am trying to inch this closer to being a beer. Here's my variation: 1lb wheat DME 1lb Light DME 8oz Crystal 120 8oz Honey Malt 2 oz torrified wheat 4oz Maltodextrin just under .5oz centennial...
