First ALL grain/BIAB - some questions....

Ok got it. I'm doing 5 gallons DI water to almost 3 gallons of well water. I have a feeling it'll be ok. I took a ph from tap earlier and it was 7.4. Used to higher in the past not sure what changed. Thanks

First ALL grain/BIAB - some questions....

Going to start making DI water. Just not sure how much I need. Beersmith is saying 8.46 gallons of water, but it is also saying loss of 1 gallon due to trub? Will I really lose that much?

First ALL grain/BIAB - some questions....

Done plenty of batches with steeping grains and never had any astringency problems. Why all RO DI? Don't I want some calcium and other minerals in my brew water? I figured if I was doing a pilsner etc. I would want very little mineral content, but thought I could get away with more here. I...

Do I need to change the recipe?

Hello all, Just about to purchase 10 gallon kettle and burner to get into all grain. Not having money for a separate mash tun I figured I'd start by using BIAB method. My question is this, Can I use an all grain recipe kit from NB etc. and do it BIAB method or will this change grain...

    Bourbon Barrel Porter Stuck?

I fermented around 65 degrees. I have swirled fermentor and brought temperature up with no luck. Is it necessary to repitch a new pack of yeast or would I be ok at 1.030? Thanks for the reply

    Bourbon Barrel Porter Stuck?

Cool thanks. Is it worth pitching the more yeast to bring it down a few points?? It tastes good to me now. Would it be ok to add bourbon now and age for a month?? I should not have to worry about bottle bombs right?? Thanks again

    Bourbon Barrel Porter Stuck?

Hello all, About a month ago I brewed NB's BB Porter kit. About 2 weeks ago I transferred to secondary and noticed SG is still at 1.030. I used the Windsor Ale Yeast. While transferring I picked up a lot of the yeast from the primary in hopes this plus some gentle swirling would kick...

    When to bottle Belgian Blonde?

OK hope it's as good as I think it will be. My question still though is if the FG is stable and it's safe to bottle should I do anything to clear the beer? Is it proper for this style of beer to be super clear or will it clear naturally over time in the bottle? thanks again:mug:

    When to bottle Belgian Blonde?

I made a Belgian Blonde on Saturday with an OG of ~1.062 and by Thursday the SG was 1.012. I tasted the beer and it tasted great. No hot alcohol and seemed pretty balanced. My question is should I leave it in the fermentor if the FG stabilizes or is there a real benefit to letting it age in...

    Vingegar Scotch Ale...

Thanks that is a great idea. I am still hoping somehow it is not an infection though I know it is doubtful. My next question is, is my equipment/bottles ok??? I have made 3 subsequent batches and they turned out great. Now though I have used all my racking equipment on this beer. Will...

    Vingegar Scotch Ale...

Hello all, Just bottled a Scotch ale tonight. The beer was my second batch and a Brewcraft beer. The beer is now 2 months old and as I took a gravity reading I tasted it and spit it out. It tasted gross. Almost like vinegar. I did not have a temperature controller as I do now and perhaps...
