    no chill

The Winpaks work great. I think we began using those back in 2009. When you fill them with boiling hot wort, your nearly sanitized Winpak gets sanitized with boiling wort. We would draw off a small amount of the wort at the point we filled the Winpak to create what we dubbed a RWS (real wort...

    My eBiab Build - 240V 5500W - 11 Gal Pot

Brew in a Basket would be a easier with an element installed.

    My eBiab Build - 240V 5500W - 11 Gal Pot

There is no pump, so the bag touching the element won't matter, because I doubt that the element will be on, like it would be during a recirculating mash.

    5 Gal BIAB Kettle Size

If you can achieve 80% brew house, which many report, you could squeeze a 1.086 beer out of a 10 gallon MLT.

    BIAB Efficiency - 40%?

Is anyone using malt conditioning prior to crush for BIAB? I've always preferred it when fly sparging.

    BIAB Efficiency - 40%?

That really is the great thing about BIAB, assuming complete conversion, your efficiency will be a constant, which is related directly to grain absorption. You lose the variable of the sparge and lauter. You also avoid the possibility of over sparging and extracting undesirable compounds

    Electric smoker?

Pushrods... I've owned mine for a couple years, and did a lot of research and decided that Smokin It offered the best value in a quality smoker. It will outlast me for sure. The food is ridiculous! All electric, all stainless ;)

    Electric smoker?

I own a Smokin It Model 2. Cannot say enough good things about it. 100% stainless, insulated walls...

    Colorado Brewing Systems customers

We emailed back and forth until literally midnight last night, to get the port locations spot on... Who does that? Maybe I should have given Spikes more consideration from the start. Really, their customer service is top notch, and I have not given them a dime yet. Pretty impressive.

I received my drawing, verified the ports and locations, all in under 2 hours. The pricing is impressive too. Sleeping on it, but Spike looks like a good option. Custom ports, quality welding, affordable pricing. Seems most other manufacturers are missing one or more of those criteria

Thanks for the feedback on the Stout tanks... I will know more when I see my pricing from Spike.

This is true. Right now I'm waiting for a quote from Spike. I've never read a bad review of his product, but seen numerous real issues with the Stout tanks. They look pretty, and the tangential whirlpool is awesome. I'd like the bottom drain, and dish bottom kettles too. Just terrifying...

I'm just reading some customer reviews on the stout tanks, and seeing massive rust, dents, terrible scratches, damaged tri clamps... And little to no customer service. $800 for kettles with no guarantee of satisfaction, sucks.

Well, I need a specific configuration... Preferably. So if I go weldless, that is easy. If I go welded, it's more difficult, as I need a custom kettle.

Okay, so stout has terrible reviews here... Just sent Spikes a custom kettle request.

The Stout kettles aren't that badly priced... Considering what they include. False bottom. Bottom drain. Tangential whirlpool. Tri clamp element fitting. Sanitary ball valves...

    How about Bru Gear?

Those are some valid points. Thanks for the input. I've had reservations as some of the welds I've seen in photos look as if they have voids in areas... Which defeats the idea of a sanitary weld. I may still consider the Colorado kettles however. The custom port locations are really valuable...
