where to start is really hard place to start. personal taste is a helluva thing. I can enjoy most anything. what kind of flavor/aroma are you looking for?

I probably could have. my wife drove up and back. my BIL was only 3 steps in putting their grill together and already had everything wrong. I took it all apart and put things right. he's only got a few steps left now.

again, fermentation control. when I was a young brewer, I brewed a lot "in excess". not meaning I brewed too many batches, but "more of this ingredient will be better." after some advice from folks with more experience I realized and understood that sometimes less is more. keep your recipes...

my stuff came in from Vermont Freehand. now I need to shape my chamber bits and cut some briar!

Monday evening I cut up my 2nd pressing of tobacco. it was just some Chatham Manor with some 1-Q and a little Rum Outlaws split & mixed in. when I pulled the cake out, it was pressed for 3 days and very dense. now it's all fluffy. gonna have to think on this.

I ordered some bits and things from Vermont Freehand last night. pretty excited to get these blocks drilled and cut!

kegged up my Rye APA this morning. it was pretty clear going in the keg.

oh! beechwood! and all this time I've been using beachwood. no wonder all my beers brewed the easy way taste like a lake.

I'm gonna echo BrewinHooligan and sleepspeaking: start off with small samples of different tobaccos until you find something you really like. Dr. Grabow makes some decent starter pipes, but I really use my Missouri Meerschaum cobs (Eaton and Legend) more than my others (not that I have a lot)...

I picked up a bottle of Jameson aged in Stout barrels today. haven't tried it yet. also picked up some Songbird Saison from Tall Grass. haven't tried it either.

I lived in Vegas between '99 and '01. I miss the weather.
