Chicago folks- any brewpubs/bars near Wrigley?

I go fishing in the UP between Iron Mountain and Crystal Falls every summer in August. Any local beers/breweries I should check out next year?

    Aging time in a keg

I must have a weak palate! Based on the Morebeer numbers, they were targeting 1.014. When I made that beer I think it ended up around 1.012, but I honestly have no idea what my threshold is for picking up on a gravity change.

    Hopleaf is amazing though!

That is on the low end for attenuation for that yeast, but only by a couple of points. I wouldn't think it would be enough to make your beer taste sweet.

@Yooper did you end up taking in any brews around Wrigley?

    Aging time in a keg

Did you get a gravity reading before you kegged? What temp did you mash at? Sweetness makes me wonder about attenuation. I am also in the camp of lower fermentation temp is better. I pitch at the low end of the yeast's temp range and then after fermentation starts to slow down (usually about...

    Old hops, bland beer. Help!

Do you think that 2oz of cryo would be overkill? I was thinking I could try 1oz citra and 1oz simcoe if I went the cryo route.

Just finished my first batch!!!...and I think I nailed it!

Congrats! I bet those beers will get better and better over the next few weeks.

    Old hops, bland beer. Help!

Thank you for the advice. It wasn't supposed to be a hop bomb, and I actually doubled the dry hop when I tasted my hydro sample. But I always like when advice is "more hops!" I haven't tried cryo hops yet, do they stay within a mesh bag pretty well?

    Old hops, bland beer. Help!

I brewed an IPA a couple of weeks ago and it turned out tasting like a blond. If I had to guess, I would say there was maybe 1oz of hops in the entire recipe, not the 7 that I actually added. The beer looks great and has no obvious off flavors, it just tastes like meh though. Recipe is attached...

DIY Coil Chiller - In the Wort or In the Cooler?

No harder, but harder than cleaning the outside.

DIY Coil Chiller - In the Wort or In the Cooler?

It's a lot harder to clean the inside of an immersion chiller.

    Really high OG - Extract

So did you measure the gravity with or without the top off water?

    Store bought H20

+1 for distilled if you are doing an extract batch.

How Many Gallons of Homebrew in 2018?

    10,532.5 Gallons + 5 Gallons APA + 5 Gallons American Porter = 10,542.5 Gallons

    What would happen if....

You are going to have less malt and hop flavors, and a boozier hotter beer.

    7ish year old homebrew

I found a 5+ year old bottle of my first brew a while back, an American porter, it was better than any other bottle I had from the batch.
