    Firt all-grain brew

I built a fermentation chamber, but this is the first time using it. I removed the door from a bar fridge, built a box around it, insulated it with reflective styrofoam insulation, and pink fibreglass. I then spray foamed all the joints. I use a dual stage temp controller with a carboy...

    Firt all-grain brew

I did my first all-grain brew Friday night, and everything went fantastic , before I post my questions, here are a few details: I Have a 3 vessel electric HERMS setup. My Grain bill was just under 27 pounds for a 10 gal American IPA brew. It was a 60 min boil and I used Centennial...

    My EHERMS setup

Why only one PID? I have an RTD in the HLT and one in the boil kettle. I will be using the BK to heat strike water and boil my wort after the mash. During the mash I will be recirculating the wort through the HLT. Seems like that would be hard to do with only one PID

    My EHERMS setup

Hello HBT, Here are the first pictures of my EHERMS setup. Just finished it last night, now I am in the process of testing it. So far, so good, should be ready for my first all-grain batch by the weekend!! It is a 3 vessel, single tier system. I used 2 sanke kegs and 1 10gal bayou kettle...

    PID wiring

Ok, I finally got a reply from my RTD supplier... "These are 2-wire RTDs The sensor is on the black and white wires, the red is unused. At your PID, you can jump the black wire across both red terminals." How does this affect how I wire now?

    PID wiring

Thanks so much for your help. The link you posted got me pointed in the right direction, but still doesnt really solve my problem. It did narrow down my target area though. The PT 100 RTDs that I got (sourced from Brewer's Hardware) have 3 different colored wires. Everything I can find says they...

    PID wiring

Somebody please help, I have my EHERMS control panel completely wired, except for the RTDs. I know that on my PID, terminals 8,9,10 are for the RTD. I have 3 wire RTDs with a red, white and black wire. Best I can tell the white is common and goes on terminal 8. That is as far as I can get. All...

Hello HBT, I am brewing my first all-grain beer this weekend, and want advice on whether to bottle or keg... I will be making a 10 gal recipie, and I am not real excited about the prospect of filling 100+ bottles. Consistency is the key for me, I feel like i would get a better product...

    March 815 fail

It didnt break due to overtightening the fittings...I am a little embarrassed to say it, but when I bolted it down, I noticed the mount was a bit crooked, so it tried to straighten it with a little twist. unfortunately i was using the fittings as handles and...snap wasnt impressed with myself
