Broke my 6 gal carboy on brew day!

Those things should come with a warning label glued to them, telling you to never lift a full carboy with them.

Help me decide which style chiller.

I think that one of the key points to take away from this discussion, is that you NEED to be doing something about the material that you are pulling from your kettle, no matter what method of chilling you use. You do not want all that debris in your fermenter. Get that problem taken care of...

    Snowflakes in my fermenter. Problem?

Where you at in the NW? I love my water here in Seattle. From fall through spring, when running my cf chiller, it is the WATER that I have to throttle back, not the flow of the wort, otherwise I end up with 42 degree wort in my bucket, and it takes forever for fermentation to kick off. Summer I...

Extreme Brewing 'Bargain Priced' at Barnes & Noble

I agree... I never would have paid MORE than $10 for it, as I consider the whole first half of the book a waste, but the second half is great, with unusual recipes, and clone recipes, and some cooking recipes and what not, so I was happy to find it in the mark down section at BN.

    Seattle Home Brew Store

What part of town are you in? There are a few other major ones in town, I truly like them all better than Cellar, one has a great website, one has a piss poor website (but the store is awesome) and one has no website at all. The real factor for you, as they are all pretty good, will probably...

    Kroger employees?

As to Frys, I was not sure if there were also some Kroger stores down that way. I know that all I saw while I was down there was Frys, but aren't there also some Ralphs stores down there too? As to working for an electronics store, yeah, we have a Frys Electronics up here close to my place...

    Kroger employees?

Cool... she work for Kroger themselves, or for Frys? I was just down your way a week or so ago, stayed up on the north side of Phoenix, near Carefree... the weather was awesome.

    Does everyone rack to secondary??

No secondary for me anymore. If it is good enough for the Pope, it's good enough for me :drunk:

Pic of a Few beers I just picked up.

wow... nice haul man... one of my local suppliers just started carrying Russian River, they have Damnation and Pliny. I tried the Pliny, have not yet tried the Damnation, but looking forward to it. They also have the Rasputin, but I have not tried it yet either. I have only seen one Lost...

Best way to get a real red?

Tried this in a few forms... In a starter that got a very mild, short boil, it was an amazing fuchsia pink... In a wort that got a long boil, the pigment broke down and it was just a funky brown color. I was just listening to an archive episode of The Session, from early in 2006, and Doc was...

Does it matter who makes the beer you buy?

It matters to me for the same reason that I patronize my local hardware store chain (5 locations in the Seattle area), and only go to Lowes of Home Depot if I absolutely have to. It has to do with service, selection, competition... It has to do with having choices available. If we don't support...

50 gallons of Hard Cider in a barrel

That was the first question I had too, now if I could just find something like that around here...
