    I hate asking but...

Thanks. It just seems like everyone does something a little different. So you go with the 1.5gal/per lb of grain. Ive been doing all sorts of calculations and it seems when I get up to 15lbs of grain or so things become more difficult. Not as much sparge water. But thats probably for a...

First time using a blowoff tube.

Not sure of the tube size, came in a beginner brewing package I got. I can measure if you really would like to know. It fits in the carboy real tight which is good. This was a partial mash recipe, I got it from my LHBS and ya 90min boil and hop additions every 7 and a half min. And it requires...

First time using a blowoff tube.

Ya so I brewed a batch last night and after about 18 hrs after pitching my yeast starter, the krausen was up to the airlock. I sanitized my blowoff tube and stuck it in. I love seeing krausen but I want it to stay in my beer!!

    DFH 90min

What a pain, yesterday I did a partial mash dogfish head 90min clone. The mashing makes brewing day a little longer but this was a 90min boil with constant hop additions every 7 and a half min, lol. I pitched a 2 stage starter into it and 12hrs later the krausen is already about 3 in and...

    My official newbie questions thread.

My opinion, go 5 gal. I can give u a link to a 8 gal kettle for $29 shipped. Full boil 5 gal then u can start home brewing. I use it and it boils wort just as good as anyone eles.. again this is my opinion but if u like mr beer get out of it and do it for real... mr beer gets u into it then u...

    First Brew is Going.....

I only use white labs. In the future, crack it open store it upright and let it warm up. Most the co2 will come out. Tighten lid shake, then open slowly and repete. No more blow ups....

    yeast starters

Lol good questions. Yes, let the stir plate stay on for at least 24hrs. And lol ya there is a trick to white labs. That's all I use. I crack the seal open and let it warm from a refrigeration temp to room temp and most the co2 comes out while it warms up. (make sure to store it upright with...

    I love brew day!

Despite all the work, the washing, cleaning and sanitizing, then brewing then more washing and cleaning, I still look forward to it. Today I'm moving a pumpkin ale to secondary, washing the yeast from it and brewing a dead guy clone. I can't wait for this one. Should have a 1.065 gravity. My 2...

    dead guy clone?

Just picked up a partial mash dead guy clone by rouge at my lhbs. Anybody have this beer before? I never had it but it is a top seller at my local shop, and with a 1.065 sg it sounded good. Thanks.
