Traveling with beer while bottle conditioning???

What ever happened to RDWHAHB? I would definitely do it. If the temperature in your car is comfortable for you, it will be comfortable for your beer. While the conditions may not be optimal, it will be fine. I would even skip the ice packs. Just pack them safely in case of any bottle bombs...

    Boiling Pot

I bought this kettle (an earlier model) when I started brewing. https://www.williamsbrewing.com/Home-Brewing-Equipment/Wort-Making-Equipment/Brew-Pots-And-Accessories/Brewers-Edge-40-Quart-Brewkettle I was doing 5 gallon extract batches, but went with the larger kettle so I could do full...

    Over Attenuation from Over Pitching?

This experiment on attenuation has some great info . It may be from 2009, but I think the information is all relevant. https://braukaiser.com/wiki/index.php/Effects_of_mash_parameters_on_fermentability_and_efficiency_in_single_infusion_mashing

    Cleaning your Bag

Mold is not due to your washing technique, it's how you're drying the bag. It's staying wet too long. I hand wash the grain bag with cold water from the garden hose, rinsing the grains and sugars off the fabric. Then I squeeze out the excess water and hang it to dry in my garage. I've been...

    Over Attenuation from Over Pitching?

What temperature do you mash at and how well are you holding that temp during the mash? Also, are you adding any sugar to your recipes? Adding sugar will raise the ABV, but it also dries out and lowers the body, which means a lower FG.

Beer things to do in Paris

I visited France this July and stayed in Paris, Nice, Annecy, and Colmar. I expected to find lots of good Belgium and German beers at each of these locations, but that was not the case. Even in Colmar, 5 miles from Germany, there were no German lagers available. Instead, I enjoyed the local...

    ABV Bias in Beer Ratings

Great point. I also believe that a majority of beer drinkers (including BA and Untapped members) need to be slapped in the face with flavor in order to appreciate a beer. Their palates aren't trained to pick up the subtle grain and hop flavors in lighter low ABV beers. Brewing taught me...

Grain mill project - power drill driven

I'll definitely post a follow up when I get to this.

    Beer overly bitter after priming

If you want clearer beer, I suggest adding 1/2 a whirfloc tablet to the last 15 minutes of your boil. To reduce oxygen exposure, skip the secondary fermenter. "Pouring" from the primary into a secondary fermenter will introduce a LOT of oxygen. Just leave your beer in the primary fermenter...

    DIY Manual Keg Filler

I imagine if you have a spare sanke coupler, this would be an easy DIY project. You'll probably need to remove the check ball from the liquid side and the check valve from the gas side to allow things to flow in the reverse direction.

Grain mill project - power drill driven

I have the same drill and it does a great job. I tried the zip tie on the trigger and I wasn't happy with the results. For now I've been manually controlling it, but plan to buy one of these in the near future. When I do, I'll zip tie the trigger to 100% and throttle it down with the speed...

    Fermentation too cold?

You need a dual stage temperature controller like the ITC-308 or ITC-308 WiFi. I've had both and the WiFi was a nice upgrade. https://inkbird.com/collections/temperature-controllers Then add a heater and you can ferment at all temperatures. https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/fermwrap.htm

    Recipe kits or DIY?

Kits are great for new brewers who are still learning.

    Warm taps foaming initially

This might be a simple way to keep the box in place if you go that route. https://www.amazon.com/Mounting-Fastening-Surface-Protection-MT004-5S/dp/B00NPANZCW/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1VP11I6PWVXM9&keywords=adhesive+magnetic+strips&qid=1689802178&sprefix=adhesive+magnet%2Caps%2C124&sr=8-3

    Warm taps foaming initially

You could switch to picnic taps until the weather cools down. Or maybe a foamboard cover to fit over your taps to keep them insulated.

    First Time Kegging Question

Lagers and low IBU ales will also get better with age provided you didn't introduce too much oxygen when you transferred.
