SHOW OFF: Basement Brewery cleaning sinks

Here are a few more of my galley-style basement britchen. Cooktop has 2 large elements, 3000w and 3200w. I have been using the 3000w and it works great on high setting when the 20-quart brew pot is filled with 4 gallons of wort at the start of the boil. Lots of cabinets and drawers to store...

    Obnoxious Football Trash Talk Thread

And then there is Tessitore who gets way too excited for no reason... Incredible, did you see how they won the coin toss? So epic! One of the most amazing time outs ever called. There has never been anything so dramatic! The skill at which the chain gang streched the chains for that opening...

    First kit batch size

I started with small batch kits, specifically Mr. Beer. About as simple as it gets, inexpensive, not much time involved, and the pleasing results (after only a few brews) led me to 5-gallon extract kits and then upgrading my equipment to include kegging. Later, you can use the Mr. Beer...

    Beer bread

Interesting use for spent grain flour. Always a good idea to learn about new recipes to try. Gonna add this to my growing list for SGF recipes and make some to enjoy while drinking a homebrew. Thanks!

Coach was interested in using three or four tight ends at once this season. To make an efficient offense, they would need plenty of repetitions. A wide variety of skill sets within their group of tight ends would also ensure tremendous success on game day.

I suppose any quarterback loves it when his tight end takes it deep and scores.....a touchdown. Then goes for two.

What kid, that has yet to be born

IDK. It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future. It ain't what it used to be, especially if they keep making too many wrong mistakes. Yogi Berra must have said that before he died. So no matter where you go, there you are.

What I did for beer today

Took the blow-off tube off my primary of 5.25 gallons Caribou Slobber and installed the air-lock a little over 28 hours after yeast pitch. Used Danstar Windsor dry, rehydrated in 4 oz. water at 86F for 15 minutes. Fermentation really took off 5 hours after pitching and started to overflow...

What I did for beer today

Brewed a Caribou Slobber extract kit (partial boil) with 5.25 gallons into the primary fermenter. It is a Moose Drool (by Big Sky Brewing Co. in Missoula, Montana) clone. Dried the 12 oz. spent grains in the oven to use later for baking stuff or as an addition to the traditional breakfast...

    Extract brewing with grains

1/2 of the LME added later reduces the boiling gravity and this will increase the hop utilization, given the timing of the hop additions remain unchanged.

Storing kegs without constant c02 pressure

After filling the keg, I purge the headspace with CO2. Pressureze keg, close CO2 valve, vent, and repeat several times to remove the unwanted air. Then chill it to 42F until ready to carbonate. My 2-tap kegerator can hold 3 kegs. When one keg is empty, I then "set-and-forget" carbonate the...

    Dear Abby.......

Dear Abby: I've recently fell in love with two beers and don't know what to do. One is a "Blonde" and the other is a "Belgian". What should I tell my wife? -Thirsty for adventure

Used Keg (cleaning) vs New Keg

Concerning keg o-rings, it never ceases to amaze me that they sell "Used Keg Seal Kits". Why not just call them "Keg Seal Kits"? If you replace the o-rings on a keg, then they should be "new". Buy them "used"?
