Beer is better than Women Because:

Yeah but if it's the only thing left at the end of the night I'm not above a little slummin'.

    Dry-Hemping

I recall a thread on a different brewing forum (Northern Brewer maybe?) on this subject. Those who claimed to have been successful created a "tincture" with vodka and weed. Don't remember when they added it to the brew . . .

    any refrigerator experts?

I got a commercial type display refrigerator with double sliding doors - like the kind you see in a mini-mart. (It actually has 'Clearly Canadian' printed on the side.) It even has the slanted shelves so when I take a beer out the next one slides into position. I plugged it in yesterday and...

    fruit addition prob?

I've made many batches of huckleberry beer before w/o any problems. Sometimes I add to primary, sometimes secondary. Berries have always been previously frozen and thawed just before adding them to the beer. Yesterday I dumped a half-gallon of previously frozen berries into a bucket and then...

    i'm not getting any carbonation

That goes for fermentation and bottle conditioning alike. I learned early on to put some kind of insulator - like corrugated cardboard or a blanket - between my beer and the floor of my basement. Ambient temp might be 68* but the floor is COLD!

    A few Questions

    1. I wouldn't worry too much about the floaties in the SN. Could be hops, could be other "stuff" settling out of the beer. I can't say with 100% certainy what the "stuff" is . . . I'm not an expert on the "stuff" (coagulated proteins I think?) . . . but I've seen it in my brews and had no...

    overflow!

Gushers are indicative of an infection. If you opened other bottles that are fine then maybe you're lucky and it was just that one bottle that was infected.

    SWMBO be PISSED

I had the airlock on a plastic bucket of imperial stout plug up one time. Pressure was enough to blow the lid in the middle of the night. You can still see imperial stout on some surfaces in that room (ceiling, floor, walls, refer, etc.) if you know where to look. But fortunately that room is...

Any good tips for marathon drinking?

Somebody mentioned avoiding caffeine. Avoid soda pop too. I took a health class in college and retained nothing except the term "diuretic". Why I don't know. Diuretics force water out of your body by making you pee a lot. Anything with alcohol, caffeine, or carbonation is included. And as...

+1 Mediocre beer pitched as if they invented it.

I assume this is ok but. . .

I don't know . . . you might be alreight but as easy as it is to clean and sanitize a keg I think I'd just go ahead and do it.

Does anyone know where to legally buy multiple sized Sanke kegs?

Okay, think of it this way. The keg I bought out of that lady's barn looked like it had been there for at least 10 years. If I hadn't bought it, it would still be sitting there and may never have seen the light of day - or beer - again. I did that keg a favor . . . Maybe I'll change my...

    How do you pronounce Saaz

What about Briess? Is it "breese" or is it "breeze" or is it "br-ice"? Never heard it spoken before . . .

    I like stubbies!!

I like subbies too. I like to embarass my wife by asking her to slip my empty Duvel bottles into her purse when we go out. Full Sail Session is also bottled in stubbies . . . not sure if that's available in your area. Wouldn't it be sweet if you could get some 40's with pop tops?

    Bottle priming Strong Ales

I posed this question myself one time when I was preparing to bottle an imperial stout. I'd left it in the tertiary for about a year and thought the yeast would be pooped but I was assured that there would still be enough thriving yeast for bottle conditioning and that I shouldn't repitch. I...

Does anyone know where to legally buy multiple sized Sanke kegs?

If you can deal with used ones try posting a want ad on craigs list or similar sites. I also paid ten bucks and put a want ad in the local Nickel Ads. Got hits from both. The guy who responded to craigs list had moved into a rental house and the last tenant had left a keg behind. He was...
