    What kind of yeast are you using? Im not familiar with the Mr Beer kit. But 68-76 seems high. Its prob an Ale yeast of some type. So 60-66 would be best prob. But post what kind of yeast it is. And people can help you much better.

    http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html This is what i use enter in your volume and OG etc... And it will tell you how much yeast you need.

    If it was a real expensive recipe 2 get all the ingredients for like u said. Me personally i would rather be safe then sorry and just toss it. Seeing you have easy access to more yeast. Now for a big beer you still need a starter. So you could post pone brew day and make another. Or just pitch...

    I rinse my clean bottle in hot water. Then fill them up with star san dump back in bucket and bottle while wet. Never had a infection yet. Knock on wood just curious why let star san dry. Like someone already said it works best when wet. And i have bottled on a bottle full of foam never any off...

    5 Gallons-German Alt 5 Gallons-Honey Brown Ale counted the guys above me English Brown Ale But not his Hard Cider Viaz the rules of only beer seeing he didn't come up with a total with his 5 gallons and my 10 =7544

    And its a German Alt. And blue patch you see in the pic is just the tape holding a piece of paper with OG and dates i piched and what not. That blue patch is not in the carboy.

    It's almost like a oily residue on top. Not covering the whole top of the beer just in certain spots. Never seen this before or maybe never noticed it. It's been in there about 2 weeks. Took an FG today to see if it smelt or taste bad. FG was 1.012 from OG 1.052 and it tasted great.

    Kit instructions say to rack to secondary BEFORE fermenting stops...

    Wait till fermentation stops before racking to a secondary always. I have never racked that early. But have heard you could stall fermentation by racking to a secondary to quickly.

    Cold will just make yeast go dormant. As long as you take them out of the fridge and put them around 70F you should be fine.

    Unless your dry hopping or adding something to the secondary. You can just leave in in the primary for 3-4 weeks. Take a hydro reading if it good then bottle. Really no need for secondary unless your adding stuff.

    Just wait 3 weeks take a hydro reading. Then wait 2 days take another reading. If its the same bottle. Unless your dry hopping or adding fruits etc....

    Bubbling in the airlock means nothing just because your airlock isn't bubbling doesn't mean fermentation isn't happening. Are you using a bucket as a primary or a carboy?

    If it was extract its pretty hard to mess up OG. Unless you added stuff you weren't suppose to according to the recipe. You probably just took a sample of wort that wasn't mixed well with the water you topped off with.

    Ya the beer was fantastic had a peach aroma and a slight fruit back taste it was really good could taste the alcohol a bit on the after taste but it is a 9% ABV really enjoyed it though

    Damn that sh$t sound dangerous this was my first batch of cider. I have brewed alot of beer and never got the rotten egg smell. I stick to ales and IPAs though never wheat or belgian beers. This was my first cider and prob my last. I feel like i'm learning a bunch of stuff all over again. But...

    Rotten egg smell??

    I didn't really mix it in i boiled a small amount of water and added the yeast nutrient to that after it cooled a bit then added that to the primary didn't really mix or shake the cider but is the sample i drank ok to drink with that rotten egg smell i mean i feel fine .
