Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

Russki, Just curious what the pump's power supply is rated? I bought a similar pump but didn't get a power supply with it, hoping I have a similar one around the house somewhere not being used. Thanks. Awesome build. I'm building a pretty much identical one so I'm hoping mine will look half...

Temp probe placement in recirculating eBIAB builds

There seemed to have been quite a few of these builds lately. I myself am working on one as well. I'm curious where you are putting the temp probe. It seems it's either on a T with a sight glass, on a T that's attached to the valve, or just in the kettle wall. I'm leaning toward place it...

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

Awesome build. I'm currently working on a similar setup, although I think I might remove one of a contactors and one of the switches and just control both elements with one contactor and one switch. Couple questions for you, 1. How difficult was fitting everything in that box? It looks...

    heating elements box

I currently have mine wired up in a smaller 1-gang extension box with a face plate on either side. The box itself I believe is 1 inch deep. I'm guessing its easier to wire it up in a 2-gang box, but I didn't think it was difficult with mine. Like this.

    Electrical Fire! Help!

I can only imagine that the marketing department might have been behind the decision to develop powerCON. Why give a current product a new use by getting it UL certified when you can make a "new" product that is basically the same thing. I don't think this is 100% the case with Neutrik, as...

    Electrical Fire! Help!

So I decided to email Neutrik and see if they would enlighten me the the actual difference between the SpeakON connectors and the PowerCON connectors. And as to why the the SpeakON should not be used as AC mains. Here is what I got back "speakON has never been UL recognized for power...

    Electrical Fire! Help!

I've done a little "research" tonight, reading up in some A/V forums. I'm quoting basically third hand information but it seems to make sense to me. Here is the thread I'm referring too. http://forums.prosoundweb.com/index.php?topic=110300.0 From what I gather from it seems people feel...

    240v ssr on 120v build?

Would there be any advantage to using a 240VAC rated SSR vs a 120VAC or variable rated SSR? Similar to using a 40A ssr that would create less heat than a 25a SSR when used to control a 2000w 120v element. Might have to try an find some Crydom SSRs, they ain't cheap though :)

    Electrical Fire! Help!

I too have used the Switchcraft connectors. I haven't used the panel mounts, just the male and female cord connectors. It was pretty painful wiring them up, but once I did a couple it got easier. I used plenty of shrink wrap to cover any exposed metal. I really don't see them coming off the...

    240v ssr on 120v build?

Any harm in using an SSR such as this in a 120v build? I might be able to get a few of these for free, so hoping I can actually use them. It looks like the ouput is rated at 240vac where as the SSRs from Auber are rated from 90-480vac. Thanks! Ty

How to build a 5 gal, 110v eBIAB kettle

I noticed you use 2 separate elements but only control one with the PID. Is the PID smart enough to notice this and not drastically overshoot temps? I'm working on a simlar setup and keep debating whether to use the PID to control both elements or just one. Also curious how you handle the...

110v Recirculating eBIAB 2.5 gallon batches

Yeah, I think I might just get a Dremel. Seems like something handy to have around the house. Two more questions come to mind. 1. Did anyone use a fuse for the pump outlet? Seems like not a bad idea, I'm just not sure what fuse to get. 2. Is this the correct resistor? I feel...

110v Recirculating eBIAB 2.5 gallon batches

I'm curious as I don't currently own a Dremel, or Sawzall if I could drill enough 4 or 5 large holes using a step bit that I'd be able to fit the mount through. The heat sink would cover up the mess.

110v Recirculating eBIAB 2.5 gallon batches

Question for those of you who used the Auber box and an external heat sink. What did you use to cut the hole for the heat sink's SSR mount?

Dual 120v 2000w recirculating EBIAB Build

That seems to make sense. I updated the diagram with the change. Also is it worthwhile to have a fuse for the pump? Would a 2-amp slow burning fuse be sufficient for a march/chugger? Ty

    Vissani Fermentation Chamber

So I recently finished a build that would mirror the OP's and I'm kinda curious about the flexwatt heat tape. It's been running an hour or so but I've seen barely a 1 degree bump in temp. It's running in 65 ambient and I'm trying to get up to 73. Is this even possible with this stuff? It's...

Dual 120v 2000w recirculating EBIAB Build

Yea I'm really not sure about wiring the contactor, hopefully someone with some electrical experience can chime in. I'd rather have both elements under control of the PID. Also I don't think one element can sustain a good rolling boil so I would need to constantly switch the second element...

Dual 120v 2000w recirculating EBIAB Build

Okay I think I've read enough of this forum to finally start my own build. I've modified one of PJ's diagrams(hope that's okay PJ) to my likings. My goal is to fit everything into the Auber 1/16 Din Case. I'm going for compactness and ease of transport. This will be stored in a closet in...

    Contactor Question

Cost isn't the issue for me yet, it's more of a space issue. I think I'm going to have to go without contactors if I'm dead set on using the Auber enclosure. It just doesn't seem like it has the space for a PID, 2 SSRs, 2 heatsinks, 2 contactors and all the wiring and switches. One last idea...
