Immersion chiller turned in line cooler...

I like this idea, and it might work for my winter brewing, but instead of ice I can just pack it full of snow.

    Should i cover my buckets

I do the same t shirt trick with all my brews since they have to be out in the open. I did find that when I use a carboy to ferment, I can loosen the straps of the brew hauler and stuff in icepacks and then tighten it back down. works like a charm to take the edge of the ambient heat of about 70

    Reusing Yeast for Different Styles

So if I read that post correctly, I can simply leave enough beer to swirl around and make a slurry of the trub and yeast at the bottom of my fermenter, put it in a sterilized mason jar, cap and refer it? Then just pull it out a day or so ahead of brew day, and pitch like a quarter of it into my...

Keg Hopping IPA - Advice Wanted

Gotta say, I just tried keg dry hop for the first time this weekend as well. I tried the floss trick, and couldn't get a good seal. Long story short, I just dumped the bag straight in. From what I read, you want to stick to the 2 week dry hop limit when its at room temp. If you crash it and...

Brewing In Garage During Winter in Cold Climate

but I don't have to worry about thermal shock If I were to just dump in a plastic fermenter, ie ale pale? But I cant put an air lock in since all the liquid would be sucked in

Brewing In Garage During Winter in Cold Climate

If I decide to do no chill, since I don't have water outside in the winter time, can I just let the wort cool for about 30 mins or so and then transfer to a glass carboy, or do I have to wait for a few hours till its much cooler?

Brewing In Garage During Winter in Cold Climate

Im glad I stumbled onto this thread. Being in the great white north, winters are brutal and I am going to be forced to use the garage. Lots of good pointers! Thanks

Ball lock keg willing to ship

Looking for another ball lock so I can be cold conditioning my beer while finishing out the current keg. The LHBS wants a little too much for one right now. Anyone have one that isn't being used and is willing to ship? Send me a msg and we can work out the details. Thanks !
