    Virginia 2.5lb CO2 tank

Brand new never been used, hydro date on the tank is 6/13 so still plenty of time left on it. Came with a kegerator I got and I don't need it. Asking $40 OBO. I live in Alexandria VA and work in Falls Church, prefer to meet up around one of those two areas or along the beltway in between. If...

Plate chiller and fast heat transfer

If you are talking about doing two coils, one in a bucket of ice and one in your wort then yes it will help with cooling times vs running just tap water through the one coil. After that your limiting factor will be surface area for heat transfer and how well your coils conduct heat.

    Kegging/bottling a shandy

Thanks for all the great advice everyone. Looks like I will be kegging and mixing with lemonade concentrate. still not 100% sure what to do about the yeast issue but I am leaning towards refrigerating the keg until the wedding to keep the yeast at bay. My future wife will just have to deal...

    McMaster Keg O-Ring List

I just read through all the threads here and I didn't see any mention to replacement o-rings for the pressure relief valve. I've google'd and I see a lot of PRV's advertised as having replaceable o-rings but nobody seems to sell them or even list a size. Does anyone have a size or source for...

    Kegging/bottling a shandy

Have you seen anything special in the ingredients of the Jewel-Osco brand vs Minute Maid? I don't have Jewel-Osco here in Va so I will need to source a substitute.

    Kegging/bottling a shandy

Sorry for the confusion, let me back up a little. I am doing 5 beers for my wedding and I did them in 6 gallon batches so I keg 5 gallons and I bottle whatever is left ~1 gallon. All ingredients are mixed together in the bottling bucket prior to bottling/ kegging. Kegs are being force...

    Kegging/bottling a shandy

Thanks for the quick responses! Unfortunately I won't be able to refrigerate these kegs until Thursday but I have been force carbonating them at room temp so they should be ready to go as far as that. I don't like fake sweeteners and I don't have access to micron filters so it looks like I...

I want to infuse heavy apple flavor

Not a stupid question at all, and the short answer is yes. The long answer is it depends on how much you use. I use the apple juice instead of the priming sugar and if I am back sweetening I will pasteurize the bottles after a few days.

    Kegging/bottling a shandy

I asked this in the beginners forum but I haven't received any replies so I am cross posting here. I am in the process of making a shandy, wheat beer base with lemonade added. The beer is still in secondary and the lemonade hasn't be made yet. Once I mix the two will it need to be...

I want to infuse heavy apple flavor

I have done apfelwine a few times and to get more of the apple flavor and to back sweeten a bit I used frozen apple juice concentrate from the grocery store mixed into the bottling bucket.

I am in the process of making a shandy, wheat beer base with lemonade added. The beer is still in secondary and the lemonade hasn't be made yet. Once I mix the two will it need to be refrigerated to keep the lemonade from spoiling? Since the lemonade has sugar in it I am assuming I will need...

    Co2 at bottling

I've used a hand vac with pretty good success. I normally pump it until bubbles start forming and then let it sit and pump it another few times every time I pass by it. Typically it will be completely degassed after about two days but I normally keep it up for about a week just to make sure.

    Rhizome orientation

Great information. I ended up digging them up and flipping them over and planting them vertically so hopefully I have them oriented properly now.

    Rhizome orientation

Ok well it sounds like I should dig them back out and flip them over or plant them horizontally. Just to be certain I don't mess this up again using the rhizome in the picture below the right side should be pointing up?

    Rhizome orientation

I planted my Rhizomes tonight but after some more reading I think I may have planted them upside down. In all my experience with planting things the roots and offshoots normally go down and the root goes fat to skinny from top to bottom. With this in mind I planted the shoots down and the fat...
