I had a clear glass Coke bottle in a box with some bottles my brother gave me. Decided to go ahead and use it this weekend. I'm not worried about light reaching it so my only real concern was if the mouth would work well with the cap. Seemed to be alright, though.

You could try a dip tube on your bottling bucket spigot to help you get more of the beer out. I usually just watch the level and start tipping the bucket before any air gets into the spigot.

I use 500mL soda bottles for half my batches since I haven't collected enough glass yet. Soak them in bleach water then rinse really well the first time. I didn't take that step once and the Dr. Pepper bottles noticeably changed the beer flavor.

I got so much done yesterday. It was great. No rushing around to squeeze in a brew day after work or between weekend obligations, etc.
