Mine still need a week or so to carb but that should still keep me on time to ship. I'll do a taste test at the family Thanksgiving gathering to see which batch is better. Mine just won't be aged much.

How do these compare to the LorAnn oils/extracts? I got a cream ale kit with a dram of apple flavor and it was really good. That prompted me to seek out a variety pack of their stuff on Amazon. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to experimenting with them yet.

I did get lazy and not label the bottles from two batches but it's easy to tell them apart. Probably should label them sometime, though. I always use masking tape on my fermenters to keep track of what's what.

I brew in my kitchen and use old towels and/or old washcloths. I keep a towel on the floor to swipe up spills with my foot and have another towel handy just in case something major happens. I rarely use paper towels during a brew day.

I'll second that - thanks! Both those subjects (beer-food pairing and homebrewing for charity events) are things I want to learn more about.

Wow, I didn't know Carbondale jumped on the craft brew festival wagon. :) That's great. I went to the first Big Muddy Monster Festival in Murphysboro but then I moved and haven't made it back for another.

This wasn't one of your questions, but did you check the gravity to make sure it's ready? It's more important when you're bottle carbing but I still like to know fermentation stopped before kegging. And congrats on your first batch!

Love it! That's a great idea. Not sure I could handle the glitter, though.

I made a couple "son of a fermentation chillers" to get me through last summer's heat in a house with weak a/c and no basement. They work great but take up some space.

Wow, not the kind of sour flavor I was expecting! I'm not scared to try it at least once, though. I'll drink it outside where I can smell horse manure. That'd be like pairing the beer, right? :)
