    Monster Mill ideas

Thanks, beergolf. Methinks I didn't search hard enough, because I completely missed that thread. Hey, acidrain. Do you mean you would flip the hopper over so that it is basically a cover for the MM itself? I'd like to build a milling table that I can first set up for use with a drill and...

    Recipe Suggestions

8 gallons seems way off. My 5-gallon batches involve a pre-boil volume of 6.4 gallons, per BeerSmith.

What came in the mail for you today?

Yesterday was the 5/16" tubing to replace the 3/16" tubing NB sent me by mistake last week. Last week's supplies included my MM2 mill, some other hoses, auto-siphon clamp, bourbon barrel porter extract kit (first extract brew in almost two years), and grain bills for chocolate oak-aged imperial...

    Monster Mill ideas

I just bought the 2-roller Monster Mill with the 1.5" rollers. No hopper. No base. I'm going to fabricate my own. :drunk: I don't have any particular ideas about how I will construct it just yet, nor whether I will power it with an AC motor/belt/sheave or my trusty Rigid 1/2" hammer drill...

    Consistantly low gravity

The gravity potential of fermentables is measured in points per gallon. This is expressed as the non-zero digits to the right of the decimal point. So, let's take a light pilsen syrup as an example. PPG for pilsen LME is ~36 or 1.036. So, at 5 gallons, if you had 5 lbs of pilsen LME, you...

    Direct TV Remote

I'd normally say that you were completely off-topic, but it's your topic, so I will roll with it! ;-) If it's controlling a DVR, it might be the DVR itself. With all the upgrades DirecTV has done to the software, the older DVRs have become slow. My HR22 can be very slow at times. If it's in...

    What are you drinking now?

La Trappe quad for me. Had to share with the wife. ::grumble::

    How did you find us?

I can't recall, but I was probably in a panic about something I screwed up and Google led me here.

Dehusked Carafa - safe to use food processor?

Thanks for the replies! It sounds like I can't do too much damage with a blender or food processor. That's good news. The Carafa is for a recipe you may have seen for a clone of Sam Adam's Holiday Porter. I made it last year and it turned out so well that I decided to make it again this year.

Dehusked Carafa - safe to use food processor?

Greetings, fellow homebrewers! I just received my shipment of grains from Northern Brewer and it looks like I goofed on one of the items. I ordered everything crushed except for some dehusked Carafa I, which is a problem because I don't have a mill. Since the carafa is dehusked and I am...
