    Neipa color

I had gotten bad suck back before on my Neipa when I cold crashed. This is a picture of mine, when the hops sunk, they pulled in oxygen, next time I think I'm going to use hop socks and sink with marbles to skip cold crashing. I thinking that me skipping that step could be helpful, especially...

Thanks, I definitely appreciate the advise, I wasn't thinking of skimping on a wine kit, but I'll definitely make sure I get a better one now!

    Beginning grape wine making

Hi everyone, I'm interested in learning how to make wine from grapes. I was thinking about starting with a santiovese kit but have a few questions. I'm already invested in the beer, and wouldnlike to know what more equipment I may need. I figure I'll need an oak barrel ( 5 gallon) to...

Thinking about going BIAB. Anyone one with regrets? Tips?

I liked brew in a bag, but I hated cleaning it out. Could just be me being a little picky, but I always cleaned the bag until the bag was back in the same condition I started with. That being said, I prefer cleaning out my tun as it's quite a bit quicker for me.

Making a big beer in a five gallon mash?

I'd use extract to bring up the gravity. If your mash tun is only 5 gallons, you may have a difficult time. I use a 10 gallon cooler and 12lbs of grain with water fill it 3/4 of the way to the top What type of beer are you making?

    Xmas Beer Thoughts...

If you're after something lighter then do a Hefeweizen. I'd say stick to darker beers and make another stout. If I had to recommend one, a rum raisin and oatmeal milk stout sounds amazing

So it won't kill the yeast. Should I add it when I'm heating the water up?

    Camden tablet question

Question regarding campden tablets, I recently purchased a 100 pack to use for my brewing water since my city cleans with the chlorine and chloramine. I was wondering, how soon after using the tablet can I start using the water to make the wort and then then pitch the yeast thereafter. I've...

    Vodka in airlock

Are you meaning getting half a gallon of Star San water in the fermenter? If you got that much vodka in it too, I'd think it would definitely impart flavor in the beer. It will freeze if you could crash below 32 degrees and vodka won't, that's true

    Vodka in airlock

It doesn't really matter if water with starsan gets sucked back into the fermenter either. You should also have plenty left over from when you clean the fermenter.

Milk Stout Recipe Critique Please - any/all comments welcome

I'd add some cocoa nibs after fermentation if you want more chocolate flavor but less smokeyness. I did this a while back with vanilla beans as well. Just a thought.
