    just depends on what your looking for... If you just want the aroma and hop feel dump them in the end... If you want bittering and flavor then put them in 10 mins apart through the boil. just write it all down so you know what you did and can tweak it next time..

    stick in some ice water and swirl it till you hit 75 or so then pitch.... It shouldn't take that long..20 mins.??

    get beersmith its free for 20 days. You can input your recipe and it will calculate everything for you! Then use your hydrometer and measure your preboil gravity and match it up with beersmith..

    Living in a Micro beer cosmos.. Left Hand is only 20 mins from my house.. Best by far around... I live 10 mins closer to New Belgium and take the drive to Left Hand any day... If you have the chance stop into the tasting room and Josh will treat you right.. :fro:

    1 week fermenting and still bubbling a bit. Did you sit in the primary for 2 weeks? The side batch of 2 gallons, I added chocolate, clove and pinch of rosemary. We shall see.. Bubbling as well..

    We just did the mash in with 7 gallons, because 5 was way to low.. Is the 1st sparge supposed to be 200 Degrees? Will that stop the enzyme process? Wouldn't it be better at 180 and rest at 168 for 10 mins? Then the second around the same?

    Do you think I will collect 6 gallons Using 5/4/4? And what temperature should I strike? Trying to play with beersmith a bit, but can't find one that works out. I can only brew around 6 gallons in my pot.

    We are brewing this one tonight!! We have everything ready to go, and I decided to whip up a mash ton out of 12 gallon igloo square cooler. I have beer smith, and was wondering what I should mash in and sparge with?? Looks like you had a 75 quart mash in? That would be a huge mash ton...

    Say I do the 8 8 8 stout and it has lots of different grain. Do you just add all the grain in one bad and do the above pot method? Or each one separate? I like the above method, I have a few nice SS pots that are smaller so I could do this easily... Now I need to come up with a PM...

    You are nuts if you don't appreciate left hand. If you ever have the chance come out to Longmont and sit down in the tasting room they will treat you right.. Living in a microcosm of breweries this is one of the best around!! All the beers you mentioned you disliked are pretty tasty...

    Maybe i'll give this a shot. Thing is I would have to do a partial or extract brew considering I only have a 6 gallon bottle filler 2 carboys and a 6.2 gallon brewpot. I don't have a sparge. Wonder how I can modify this to extract or partial mash.

    It is an amazing beer... We get a growler of it pretty often, plus its nice to know the folks that work there!! What recipe did you use for your imperial? I'm trying to find a good one..
