Who's brewing low ABV beers for the plague?

Hi Angus. Morebeer had 22oz Bombers on sale and I ordered 2 cases. I received 2 cases of 500ML swing-top bottles instead. They were available at double the cost on the website, but having paid shipping too, I wasn't about to complain and send them back (and pay shipping again). So I kept them...

What I did for beer today

My guess is that you are practicing "Social Distancing" and finding stuff to do while having all this spare time on your hands and "Working from Home" like the rest of us !

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Hey up JKaranka. Page 204 of the CAMRA book "Brew your own British Real Ale" shows the recipe for Robinson's Old Tom and over 100 more are documented there. The author is Graham Wheeler if you are interested in getting the book. You will be glad you did as there is much more useful information...

    Hello from Barnsley in England!

Brilliant Lowtones84. Give the hardest problem / job to the laziest man. He'll find the easiest way to do it. (Not inferring you're lazy mate), it's something my Tiffy said to me.

    MASH OUT

Another briliant idea LittleRiver ! I'm going to make a modification to my grain Mill. BTW, my last brew-day began with a disaster: While being distracted by the dogs, I let the mill tip over and ended up with 5 Lbs of grain on the kitchen floor ! Live and learn.

    MASH OUT

Never thought to use the hoist to hold a bucket of grain and pour. Have been using a plastic jug to scoop the crushed grain from a kettle. Thanks for the tip LittleRiver. Happy brewing.

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Well, seeing as you asked, I bought the CAMRA's (Campaign for real ale) "Brew your own British Ale" book by Graham Wheeler. And gave a shot at the over 100 recipes therein. Been happy so far. Cheers.

Help me take my BIAB system up to the next level

You can get a sous vide for around $50 and a 12v recirc pump for $12. A power adapter is about another $15, tops. Stove top supplemental heat gets 8 Gallons of water up to mashing temp reasonable quickly, and the sous vide holds the desired temp even without the Brew Kettle lid. I put my SV in a...

    Hello from Barnsley in England!

Hey up RL. If you are using a cooler Mash Tun system, you could remove all those drilled pipes, filters, screens, and what have you, and replace them with a bag. You won't have to worry about a stuck sparge any more, and you could do a finer crush to boot.

    Hello from Barnsley in England!

Hey up Squidge59. I made my first post here yesterday in the BIAB forum as an introduction. My family still live around Huddersfield, but I came over to the US in '72, fresh out of the Army. Been brewing for some 35 years or so, and have learned a lot. Be happy to share if you think I can help...

    BIAB Mash recirculation

New member, first post: I started brewing some 35 years ago with a can of malt extract, the lobster pot, and some used 12 oz bottles. Gradually buying more equipment and improving the product. I now have a 5G and a 10G brewpot, Trubtrapper, 34 x 19 bag with loops, coil chiller, two roller mill...
