Bottled my first home brew yesterday!

Welcome! I have also found a lot of information on this board that has been good and bad. Good in the form of valuable information, bad as it has fueled my hobby to the degree of buying more and more equipment and dreaming up more and more elaborate ways to transform my house into a brewhut...

1st time kegging..how much CO2 does it take?

I have also noticed that when mine gets around 350 / 400 PSI mark it is close to being empty. It seems to drop fast at first hoover around 700 / 800 for some time then drop to 350 /400 before running out. I need a better gauge.. :(

Polyurethane with a hint of Rootbeer:

Well I figured I would share my first rootbeer horror story and strike it up to a lessons learned. The wife and I thought it would be fun for the kids to make some rootbeer so we bought a Homebrew rootbeer extract, grabbed some sugar, yeast, and a some 2 liter bottles. At the time we decided...

    Partial Carbonation Problem:

Plot thickens... It appears I may have had a batch of bad caps if that is possible. I placed the other case of Oatmeal Stout in the fridge which has been sitting in 72 degree room temp for carbonation and the three bottles I tried were completely flat. In hopes to save the beer I did the...

Best Route For A Newbie - Bottle Or Keg?

Great advice so far all I can offer is my own opinion, I started on bottles for about the first 3 brews. Since these brews were back to back we had 144 bottles in various stages. Everything was great.. Until, the cleaning, sterilizing, storing, <rinse and repeat> game was in full effect...

    How much do you drink?

I tend to be on the 1 - 3 pints weekdays and a slight to drastic increase on the weekends. My SWMBO likes to drink with me so I guess you can say I never need to make born-on dates for me beers. :) Although the ongoing joke around my house is a 3 beer limit, you can drink as many as you wish...

Whats the worst kit you have done?

I first brew had to be my worst by far, it was a Brewers Best IPA and used original ingredients and instructions. Way too bitter and not a hop bitter I may add.. :drunk: I still managed to pawn most off on my neighbors until they tasted my other brews then the IPA stayed on the shelves until...

is it supposed to look like that?

I admit that it does look a little scary, but as "Walker-san" mentioned time does wonders with beer. Good luck and keep us posted if possible..

    bottle sanitizing

My first bottling day I sort of went over the edge with the cleaning. I cleaned each bottle with a cleaning agent and a bottle brush, rinsed, placed into the dishwasher for the high heat cycle, then dipped them into a no-rinse sanitizer. After that batch every bottling process there after...

    Partial Carbonation Problem:

Well the wife and I decided to bottle our Oatmeal Stout so we can save the kegs for other brews. I used the same process I have used in the past but ended up with strange results. I used a bottling bucket and mixed in 5oz of priming sugar after stirring in the sugar we bottles 2 cases of brew...

    LA Newb Alert

This is my first season for brewing myself and I have officially caught the brew-bug! I now have done around 7 brews and about to start two more. I started off with a basic kit and quickly moved to a 3 keg system and looking into laagering and all grain. Beware the bug as it has strong...
