Sam Adams Long Shot..... Whatcha got?

Nevermind. They just confirmed my submission a few minutes ago. Weird. I pack three entries together, and one gets validated a week and a half later than the others, haha. Oh well.

My Three Philsopher's "Quasi-Reality" Clone - Methods of adding the Kriek?

That's a good question. I'm pretty sure Lindemans filters the yeast out because it's backsweetened, which WOULD leave fermentable sugar behind. Maybe go for a dry Kriek like Cantillion, just in case. A bit more expensive, but you only need a few ounces of it.

Sam Adams Long Shot..... Whatcha got?

So, I sent three submissions for this competition, all of which were in the same box. Two of them were "confirmed" on Friday morning and their status was updated on website. The third still says "pending". How is that possible? I shipped them together...

My Three Philsopher's "Quasi-Reality" Clone - Methods of adding the Kriek?

I believe Ommegang adds the Kriek at bottling, post-fermentation.

    Beertails?... Bocktails?... Beer cocktails?...

I like the idea of beer cocktails, and it always gives me brewing ideas. In my experience, most things that are delicious when blended post-fermentation are even more delicious when blended pre-fermentation. For example, when I was in London Snakebites were a big thing. It's half lager...

Sam Adams Long Shot..... Whatcha got?

Yes. If you enter the contest you give them the right to use your name and likeness. Which means, in the off chance that you become wildly successful, they could very much use those rights to name a beer after you, without your permission and with no royalties. That being said, they'd...

Sam Adams Long Shot..... Whatcha got?

All of my entries are missing too. I'm sure it's a simple glitch. A few weeks ago my account was missing for 24 hours or so and eventually it all came back online. If you can dig up the confirmation e-mails, they should have your entries numbers and everything, should there actually be an issue.

Sam Adams Long Shot..... Whatcha got?

Haha, yeah. It depends, though. It isn't that UPS can't ship beer. But, sometimes they just won't, because you know, clearly people would send homebrews cross country to get minors wasted or whatever. They ask questions less if it's going to a commercial address.

Sam Adams Long Shot..... Whatcha got?

Quick question ... my "yeast samples" were delivered via UPS yesterday. I said to delivery the packages to Sam Adams Brewery at 30 Germania St., Boston MA (as it was given to me by Sam Adams), but my tracking number said it was delivered to Sam Adams Brewery at Jamaica Plain, MA. Is this...

    Sam Adams Summer Ale 2010?

I think a lot of wheat beers have a soapy quality to them. It's a byproduct of the yeast. Sam Summer is more-so because of the lemon. Makes it a bit dish-soapish. That isn't to say it's a bad thing, I love Sam Summer. And I definitely don't think they changed the recipe. Tastes the...

Sam Adams Long Shot..... Whatcha got?

I'm entering three: A Red Wine Ale A Hoppy, Oak-Aged Saison And an over-hopped Roggenbier that's been freeze-concentrated like an Eisbock

What Category Would My Beer Fall Under?

So I brew a particular beer that I really like and decided I'm going to enter my recent batch into the Sam Adam's Longshot competition. This year is "specialty beers", which this recipe certainly is, but it asks for a base category. I'm pretty unfamiliar with official categorization and don't...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

These look fantastic. Do you carbonate the beer with those little paintball tanks too, or do you use a 5# for that? I've never kegged my beer before, but this seems like an awesome idea for BBQ's and parties. Would be a fun summer project for me to work on.

Math People - Help Me Calculate My Eisbock ABV

Yeah, that's what I figured. In a perfect world, it would be 9%, but then the gravity of my left over gallon should be 1.000. Oh well, either way I'm sure it'll be delicious. Thanks for the help.

Math People - Help Me Calculate My Eisbock ABV

Hey everyone, So, I just bottled a Scottish Ale that I treated like an Eisbock and froze then concentrated in a random experiment I'm trying. The full beer was about 3 gallons with an O.G. of 1.060 and F.G. of 1.015 for an ABV of 6.0%. When I froze the beer and concentrated it, I was...

    Dead Yeast - Help

So, last night I brewed my first batch of all-grain beer. It went amazingly. My gravity came out spot on. My efficiency was high. Then, right as I finished brewing, I was called with a family emergency and had to leave the house ASAP. I tried to cool the wort as much as possible as quickly...

Adding Varying Gravities - How Do I Do It?

Hey everyone, I have a quick question. One of my beer recipes is a Belgian Strong Ale thats blended with a small quantity of Sangiovese concentrate. Anyway, I've done it before and the beer has turned out fantastic, but this time around I'm going to try to get slightly better attenuation...

Potentially Dumb Question - Mashing and Brewing on Different Days?

So, I just got my new mash tun and liquor tank built and am dying to try out my first all-grain recipe. I have a quick question, though, that might be dumb. Would it be possible, for time saving purposes, to mash one day, then pour the wort into a vessel and air lock it, then actually brew...

    10 Gallon Cooler Too Big?

Thanks for the feedback everybody. This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Just ordered my false bottoms and such a few minutes ago. Thanks! I get the 10 gallons at cost, which I think is between $30-40, but I don't remember exactly. I remember it was cheap enough to warranty buying...

    10 Gallon Cooler Too Big?

Hey everyone, So I'm finally stepping up to all-grain brewing and building a mashing system with sparge arm. My company sells 5 and 10 gallon Rubbermaid Coolers, so I get them dirt cheap, which is why I'm using them. Anyway, I generally brew 5 gallon batches of beer, but they're usually...
