    First boilover

I stirred it really well. I thought about adding some brown sugar or honey after the boil over but decided against it bc this is my 2nd batch ever and wasn't sure if it would mess thing up and wouldn't know how much to add either.

    First boilover

I may have lost more wort than I thought. Topped off with tap water to 4.5gal an checked gravity and was 1.048 and recipe for kit said 1.057-1.06?. Added a little more of the trubby wort at bottom of kettle to get some more sugar to the mix but didn't want to get too much of that gunk. Got...

    First boilover

Just added 1oz hops to my wort, boiled over and now have 1-2 cups wort all over my stovetop. My question is how much will this affect my OG and overall taste of the beer?

    Bottling time?

This is my first homebrew and I guess I'm just anxious to taste the fruits of my labor. I think I'll wait another 4-5 days and then bottle it up. And then wait again....damn I'm so impatient! Lol

    Bottling time?

My beer has been in primary for 10 days toda and FG of 1.014 two days ago. Going to check it again today. If it stayed the same is it ok to bottle? What would be the reason to leave in primary for longer? Not planning on secondary. I know one of the reasons is to let it clear but will it do...

    Question about mashtun

Sweet! I have a new project on my hands. I'm still a beginner still but my new obsession, I mean hobby has got me thinking about home brewing non-stop. I also want to save some $ by going all grain so it's gonna be a win, win if the beer tastes better than extract.

    Question about mashtun

Would a rectangular 48Qt rectangular cooler work for 5 gal batch of beer if I wanted to start all grain recipes? I've noticed that many people go with the cylindrical coolers but I have a rectangular cooler that I could sacrifice to make a mash tun out of.

    Fermentation temp range too broad?

I brewed my first kit (English brown ale) late night 10/18 and pitched the yeast around 70deg. Put in 6gal carboy and place in closet. The temp of the house ranged from 60degrees one night then up to 72-74 one afternoon since I don't have the A/C on anymore. The airlock was bubbling after...

    First brew questions

Could I check the gravity with the wort still in the brew pot if I don't have a turkey baster or thief? The wife is gonna be a lil upset if I spend 1 more$ on this first brew. Lol

    First brew questions

    First brew questions

I recently got a brew equipment kit with bottling bucket &6gal carboy. What is the easiest way to measure gravity after I pitch the yeast if I'm fermenting in the carboy and only doing 1stage fermentation. Also I have seen people using dark plastic screw top bottles for conditioning. Pros &...
