I would use the WLP001 California Ale before I'd use the East Coast one. I wouldn't say the 1056 and WLP001 are the same strain...I've used both to make the same IPA and think the WLP001 makes a much cleaner ale IMO.

Yeah, Furious is incredibly fruity and in your face. I would suggest the Sinistral Warrior IPA from Northern Brewer. It's a tasty brew...just give it 3 to 4 weeks in the bottles and it turns out great. Not in your face hoppy and a nice malty backbone.
