Want feedback on my Over-The-Top Keezer 2.0 Design...

Well considering how long ago this thread was started and how many changes this site has gone through I’m thinking those pics are lost forever.

Why you need at least 3 calibrated thermometers and should check them on Brew Day.

I have 3 dial thermometers, 1 on each vessel and as long as they all read the same before I get started I’m confident that they will read the temps correctly.

    Feeling defeated

Yes it is, that was over most of the past 10-12 months, we bought a house just over a year ago and we had some money budgeted for some beer stuff that I had been putting off until we were in so when I get back to brewing I’ll be ready!

    Cleaning questions

@Knightshade thanks man, it’s been a looooonnnnggg week and I’m crawling to the finish line!

    Cleaning questions

I don’t do anything between kegs and when I do clean them it’s like 3-4 times a year. They have beer in them all the time what difference does it make if you leave some beer in them between kegs? Just because a keg kicked doesn’t mean what’s in there is going to go bad, if you didn’t pour a beer...

    Feeling defeated

I posted earlier about Northern Brewer and their kits but I have spent almost the last $800 of everything else from these guys, great company to do business with and super fast shipping, I would highly recommend them.

    avatar debate

So since moving in to the new house brewing has taken a bit longer to get back too but it’s funny you should say that because my first planned brew is going to be a rice lager! So that’s what I’ll cal it! And look @Konadog has a picture of us having that beer! 😂

    Motorized Mill on Amazon

Could this motor assembly work on another mill? Like to upgrade to a 3 roller? Then it might be worth it. I don’t know that speed is really a factor when you can just dump your grain and walk away. My motorized corona mill mills a pound a minute so I start my mill and then do all the other prep...

I drink a lot....is it cheaper to brew?

There has been a lot of good info in this thread, the short of it is yes it CAN be cheaper. I started over 10 years ago with a simple setup I bought used on Craigslist and a 5 gallon pot from my grocery store for like $100 bucks. I did extract and about a year later moved to all grain with a...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Did a salmon filet yesterday and doing a small (3.5lb) brisket today. @betarhoalphadelta I've done it both ways wrapped and unwrapped and I think it depends on the smoker, I use a UDS and honestly I find a water (or whatever I put in it) pan under it makes more of a difference that wrapping or not.

It's so much better doing prep the night before brew day......

That works the best for me also, I do most of the prep work the night before so all I have to do it focus on brewing the day of.

    Feeling defeated

I read through most of this thread and my suggestion is to buy a kit from a big supplier, I totally get supporting local but sometimes it’s their kits and ingredients that can be older and cause an issue. when I can‘t brew AG I look for deals from northern brewer, their kits are pretty solid...

Dorm type fridge for cool storage.

Ok so I’ve tried to do exactly what you are trying to do, only not quite as big as a box as what your trying to achieve. And it didn’t work, I tried using fans but the fridge couldn’t cool the air fast enough. And as someone else mentioned outside air temp plays a part, I don’t have to worry so...

What's the point of a mash out?

I think this is going to be one of those practices that have different effects with different people and different systems but for me i don't see a difference.

What's the point of a mash out?

I personally have not seen the benefits of a mash out, I understand the science behind it and I have done several brews with and without and I don’t notice a difference. Now as long as I have brewed AG I always did a sparge, a dunk sparge with BIAB and Fly sparge with my 3 tier set up and tried...
