What I did for beer today

I drank one! The last couple of weeks have been kicking my rear end, it’s already been a long week and it was nice to just listen to the pouring rain while having a Murphy’s. And it looks like getting back to brewing is going to be a couple of more months......

    Question on water amounts

Look the OP is just starting and in trying to help we are also trying to not scare them off, I know you are a long time brewer as am I and instead of being all scientific like let’s just help this new brewer keep brewing and not scare them with all the technical stuff that in the end probably...

    Question on water amounts

To echo @BrewnWKopperKat i actually do my whole boil with whatever steeping grains come with the kit and add ALL my extract at flameout and top off with fridge water to get the temp down the rest of the way and then pitch my yeast. After moving I haven’t done any all grain brews and won’t till...

Home Depot really wants me to drink bottled beer while I'm painting

Wow so I was initially intrigued by @passedpawn’s post because it’s a light bulb moment when you realize that it has 2 purposes but after reading about all the old tv and radio shows it took me back to when I was a kid. My dad is almost 45 years older than me so listening to old radio shows was...

    Question on water amounts

My 2 cents......If you are doing extract kits then I would just start with a couple of gallons like suggested and add all the LME at flame out you don’t need to boil that any more because it’s already been boiled. I know that people will tell you that you need to make adjustments with hop...

    Generations of the Same Song

I think there are so many good covers out there but one of my favorites is The Boys Of summer by the Ataris. I looked forever but for the life of me I couldn’t find a link to the original Don Henley version but here is the link to the Ataris.

    Pump recomendation for kegging?

I don’t think oxidation is really an issue here, @bracconiere is a pretty quick drinker 10 gallons doesn’t last him too long so I’m thinking by the time oxidation sets in it’ll be gone sooooo.........

    Spunding/Co2 process

@Cheesy_Goodness glad to see you back! I’m going to subscribe to this because this is what I want to do also. And when I finally get around to brewing again I’ll post back and let you know what I did and I’m sure you’ll do the same.

    Ozzy, Ronnie..Black Sabbath?

When I first started listening to metal and found Black Sabbath Dehumanizer was the first album and fell in love with it, it wasn’t for probably a year or so before I was introduced to Ozzy and found out he was the original singer. When I was in high school I saw Dio live and what a show, he...

    Necessity of a pressure breaker?

I don’t know that I would be concerned about using it then.

    Necessity of a pressure breaker?

I don’t know that the pressure breaker is going to work under a vacuum, they only work with pressure. They have a spring inside that when the pressure is higher than the spring pressure it releases the pressure so I don’t know that it would work under vacuum. Is there a way to hook up CO2 for...

Those are nice! If your kegerator was an old school muscle car you would have just added like 10 horsepower with that much chrome!

    Necropost Awards...

I always fall into the trap of at least reading them and then realizing it’s a necro. Sometimes it’s a poster that hasn’t been here in awhile that gives it away.

    Cider advice

I have used Motts for the last 3 I’ve made and as far as store bought juice goes I like it the best.

    Cider advice

And for the third gallon maybe add some fruit or back sweeten with some different frozen juice.

    Cider advice

I have only used wine conditioner to back sweeten so I can’t speak for erythritol. I usually use campdon tabs and add a gallon of apple juice to sweeten and flavor. Maybe brake down the batch into 2 ways and try some with a sweetener and some with not.
