@Tom R i do not have a sink yet but I do have plans to add one, for now I can clean stuff in the driveway. I was also thinking of some sort of Mobil sink with a hose quick disconnect.

    Kegging

Once you start kegging your not going to bottle your beer, you think you will but you won’t. I had a plan to keg half and bottle half, I bought more kegs…..20 now and half from Craigslist for super cheap to free.

Do I understand this bulk grain thing correctly?

Didn’t know that, I do not use bags but I know other guys that do and have for years. I’ve had grains in buckets for a couple of years at times and never had an issue.

    Kegging

I have bought several used and a couple of new ball lock kegs from Adventures in Homebrewing. Also check Craigslist or Facebook marketplace for used stuff, maybe you’ll find an already assembled keezer or kegerator. DIY is always cool and fun but sometimes it’s nice to get what you want for a...

Do I understand this bulk grain thing correctly?

I’ve got orange, blue and white 5 gallon buckets that I store my grains in. if your concerned about oxygen you could line the bucket with a trash bag. When you buy specialty grains buy them in 5-10 lb increments, sometimes it’s cheaper than by the pound and also you have grains in case you...

    Recognizing Good/bad aging in Stout/Porter?

You could also make another beer and blend them together, if you make a low ABV beer you can have it turned around in a couple of weeks.

    Recognizing Good/bad aging in Stout/Porter?

I think your process sounds solid, it may just be your recipe, or the one provided to you. I’ve had beers that I’ve aged that were great and some that I wish I just either dumped or drink sooner. If people are asking for a six pack it can’t be that bad, we are our own worst critics and stuff we...

Anybody else finding themselves enjoying American Lite Lagers again?

So since I’m on a hiatus from brewing at the moment I have found myself drinking High Life and Murphy’s during the week and craft stuff on the weekends. Beer is crazy expensive so I’m hoping to be back at it by the end of the year but until then I gotta substitute macro.

    Advice for first-time competitors

I used to be really active with my local home brew club and that was always good feedback and so is pouring at a beer fest, that is super awesome feed back because they are literally strangers and after a few they are brutally honest.
