☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Yes, coffee to water. I put a small digital scale under my cup. I read 1:3 is the Italian standard. I liked the 1:2 slightly more but 1:3 gives me more to drink! Weighing helps me with repeatability.

    Let's clone Sierra Nevada's 2019 Oktoberfest

I don't like WLP830 German Lager. It's not clean tasting to me. It throws off a strong "Becks" beer taste. My favorite for marzens is WLP802 Czech Budejovice. My second choice would be WLP833 German Bock. I haven't tried the dry yet.

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

I had the Ethiopia DP Guji Hangadhi this morning as espresso. First shot was 1:3 and it was a blueberry bomb. Medium body and slightly acidic but not too much of an issue. Second one was 1:2. It too was a blueberry bomb. It had more body and the spicy note I usually associate with Ethiopians...

    A homemade yogurt thread

I tried the Bulgarian (Y1) culture from cheesemaking.com. It was tangy and not sweet at all. I actually liked the yogurt I made using walmart's great value plain yogurt as a culture better. It was tangy and sweet. I have the sweet (Y5) and creamy (Y3) cultures also and hope to try them out soon.

I'm in for 5# of the Ethiopia Dry Process Guji Hangadhi. I also ordered 5# of the Brazil Dry Process Pedra Branca Lot 1. I hope it's as good as the previous years crop which made for awesome espressos - tasted like chocolate banana nut bread. I'm drinking the last of it right now. Thanks to...

    Mystery Coffee Bean Swap

Taking a stab at the other samples sent by @Br3w4u B. I got a woody-nut taste maybe pecan and chocolate with an orange jam finish. Body was heavy ad the cup was clean and complex. My guess is Colombian. C. Smelled and tasted like tomato soup and tea. I keep reading that Kenyans can be...
