What do you do after your work day is done?

If it is sunny out, the wife and I have an agreement that it is my duty to make dinner, so typically grilling something outside, monitoring a 2 year old in the yard while saying "no, don't touch that", and playing with the dog. After dinner, get the kid to bed, have a beer or a few more...

    Founder's all day ipa

I have always enjoyed it as it is typically on sale at one of our local grocery stores. It't not my favorite but it is a solid beer. I think it defines what a session IPA should be.

    Homebrew taste

I would start with building your own water from RO. Beetsmith 3 has a tool where it tells you how much of additives (gypsum, calcium chloride, baking soda etc.). There are several water profiles (Hoppy Pale, Sweet Pale, Stout, and many more) to match the style you are making. For Mash PH, I...

    Homebrew taste

To the OP, I used to have the same problem. At first it was an issue with oxidation where I was opening the fermenter and not being overly careful when bottling. Next came water chemistry which is actually extremely easy of you begin with Distilled Water and build it to the profile of the...

Oops, racked on top of StarSan

Checked this morning and no activity but it's only been 12 hours. The amount of StarSan I would estimate to be around a Tablespoon so I guess no worries there. No idea on pH of water. I used the filtered water from my refrigerator.

Oops, racked on top of StarSan

While making a yeast starter today I accidentally poured the wort on top of some StarSan solution. My method is to sanitize the growler (I go the cheap route) by filling it completely with StarSan solution then pouring it out. Then I take my spray bottle filled with StarSan and spray the...

    Interesting Article On "Juicy" NE-IPA's

I enjoy the NE-IPA's and Milkshake IPA's in the rarity that I have them. I agree with all of you that a new brewery must brew what the people want in order to stay open. But these beers have turned on new people to Craft Beer and have opened the doors for these people to explore new styles of...

    Foamy Keg Advice

Did you disassemble and clean your out ball lock? Sometimes you get gunk and other debris after the first pours that get trapped in there.

Undershot final volume, issue getting carbed?

So I undershot my final volume due to still trying to dial in my system. I have the keg sitting at 30 PSI for force carbinf bit the down spout isn't touching the liquid. Is this going to present any issues with the carbing process?

Less than 5 gal into fermentor, top it off?

With the OG being higher it is ok to top off or you could just have a little bit of a stronger beer. If you pitched yeast already make sure the water you top of with isn't freezing cold a d try to minimize splashing for oxegenation.

No hop aroma after dry hopping

When I dry hop usually go a minimum 5 days and have had some luck but that was with bottling. I would guess that the aroma has escaped with the CO2. Maybe consider dry hopping in the keg next time around.

    Falconers Flight Session Pale Ale

Been looking up info and hearing that Cascade can be somewhat overbearing when used as a bittering hop. Any suggestions for other hops that compliment FF or am I just overthinking this one?

    Falconers Flight Session Pale Ale

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, sessionable to me is around 5%. I'm not trying to fit a specific style with this one. I've had lots of luck adding small amounts of CC in IPAs especially when I want more malt flavor. Maybe use Cascade for the FWH addition to get a bit more brightness to...

    Falconers Flight Session Pale Ale

So I wanted to get some feedback on a recipe I've been contemplating for sometime. Been making pretty hop forward beers and boozy beers and wanted to scale it back a bit for my next brew. I've never used Falconers Flight but I have heard pretty good things about this hop combo. OG - 1.054...

    Dogs

This puppy puts up with a lot with a 2 year old in the house. She is a great brew partner until a squirrel gets in the yard.

Any possibilities to save my first all grain brew?

On all of my brews I always keep some DME handy in case I miss my Est Pre-Boil gravity. If you are milling your own grain look into conditioning your grain. I do it and it helped my efficiency but not near as much as water chemistry has.
