    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed a 5 gallon batch of a Bass Ale clone this morning. Need to get another primary so I can start my oat meal stout.

    First Time Crushing Grains!

Thanks a bunch for that link, I'm going to try that burger for lunch. You just use the wet grains with other ingredients I already have. I'll let you know how it turns out

Is there anything I can do with the spent grains? If so do the keep in the fridge or something?

    First Time Crushing Grains!

Can't believe how excited I was this morning just because this one's not kit and I was crushing grains. I went to bed at midnight reading this forum and woke up at 5am to finish prepping the kitchen. On a Saturday! :ban:

    First Time Crushing Grains!

Started at 7am this morning with crushing grains and already have them steeping. Just learned that it doesn't take much to keep water at 150 degrees :) I'm pretty excited that I moved away from kits and went from a recipe this time. Even though its my first non-kit brew I feel like I've done...

Curious about flavor change during carbonation

Thanks all for such an informative response to my original post. I was so curious what a green beer might taste like and after reading all the responses plus tasting my own green beer I have a much better idea. In fact, there is way more information in here than i could have ever expected...

Curious about flavor change during carbonation

Thank you too homebrewdad, I knew it would be green from my reading i just wanted to see what green tasted like. Then it was bitter so i just kinda wondered if that's what green meant. I'm not touching the rest of it for at least two weeks! I just went to the Brew Festival in St. Louis this...

Curious about flavor change during carbonation

Thank you for responding, that's what I thought but it really puts my mind at ease knowing its just young and that's the way it's supposed to taste. I have another batch but not from a kit that I'm going to brew this weekend and just wanted to avoid any problems if I had some issue other than...

Curious about flavor change during carbonation

Hi, I recently brewed an bottled a Brewers Best American Amber kit and all went great through the fermentation. It started and stopped at the correct OG and FG reading per the instructions. I left it in the main fermenter for 3 weeks then moved it to a bottling bucket for immediate bottling...

    Oxi Clean for Homebrewing?

Thanks, for the clarification! I'm going to give the Oxy Free and TSP a try as discussed above and then rinse well before using my Star San. :mug:

    Oxi Clean for Homebrewing?

I'm just going from the website copied here and what it says on my container. I guess it doesn't matter much because I use Star San as a final step anyway. But its good to know if general practice is to rinse the PBW...

    Oxi Clean for Homebrewing?

Thanks for the response and just one more question. Would blending both Sun cleaner and TSP still be a no rinse cleaner, biodegradable and non-toxic the same as the PBW? Loving reading through all the knowledge on this forum!

    Oxi Clean for Homebrewing?

Can you tell me what the mixture ratio would be to blend the Oxyclean Free and Red Devil? Also is this the same as 1 Step Cleanser from Maltriversupply.com (ST-1S-01). PBW was mentioned and I wasn't sure if these were the same. :)

Hello from the St. Louis, Mo area

Just doing the brief introduction thing here. About 10 years ago I made a few kit brews from Mr Beer and just now getting back to brewing again. I currently have an American Amber in the 6.5 gallon primary. I'll be bottling this time into 12oz glass bottles but I'm hoping to get into kegging...
