    been looking for some time now myself i think rogue made a run of there stronger beers but they also cost about 4 bux a bottle. i tryed to even track down a maker and was not able to find one. ive considered buying the clear ones i can ge and painting there outsides

    mmmmm i bought some clear ones at a homebrew shop about 2 years ago because a made a carbed apple pie and payed almost 30 bux for 24 of them. im all over cosco if i can get them cheap if the liquid sucks then ill dump that.

    about 17 days in and there is a clear part of the liquid at the very top about a bottle caps deep above the rice. its odd because the rest is red from the ryr. i wonder if its still converting to sugar but the cold temps are preventing any more fermenting. its now down to 49 degrees im thinking...

    Does anyone know if cooler temps cause a flavor change? i thought i read in this thread somewhere that the cooler temps are use for the rice desert. ive got mine in a home i bought and is unheated the temps have always been below 62 deg on the temp gauge and the other day it got down to 54 deg...

    the first batch i did i didn't crush the balls very well and for better then a week i saw chunks. that batch took off much slower then the others i've done. i don't know if the chunks caused the slower ferment. the latest batch i done i didn't grind up the ryr and as fast as everything fired off...

    so i just read the op. i do not see why you couldnt use a homemade vanilla extract but i think you have to wait at least a week or two on it. then age the rest for later use

    why not make your own vanilla extract with the rot gut vodka and vanilla beans you can get in bulk online. are you looking to impart some vanilla flavor?

    go back to walmart look in there section were they sell plates and glasses and you should find a 1 and 2.5 gallon glass cookie jars there 9 bux here it may be a few isles over but there in that section.
