    Beer or Cat?

:ban::mug: My thoughts exactly. Yes, he took his cat and dog on vacation! Yes, he still is a friend even though I wonder about his priorities. Yes, his sex life might have been slowed some leaving the cat another day, another factor to consider!

    Beer or Cat?

So...My Buddy calls to tell me he has to drive 1.5 hours back to a cabin his family stayed at to get their cat that disappeared right before they left 2 days earlier. I mentioned I have a store bought IPA Odell Brewing beer waiting for him, just a quick 10 Min. He was bumming and said he didn't...

Effectively DITCHING cable (roku, playon, etc.)

Just want to say all I use is Roku (Netflix) and DVD. No cable. I don't need anymore than that. I am not a huge TV guy in the first place, but It is good to have for music, movies and news. Very inexpensive.

Yes, my first beer I am drinking right now.

All is well. I bottled my second batch this morning. I have another that just got done fermenting and I'm gonna cook up my forth as soon as it gets here. Then soon after a fifth, and then go all grain if I can jump the hurdle of doubt. My problem is I haven't found anyone in my small town that...

Yes, my first beer I am drinking right now.

I really appreciate the encouragement. I am planning on going full grain after 2 more extracts. I got a couple doozies coming from Austin Home Brew. I have been reading Palmer, and with this outcome, I am seriously motivated. Cheers to my forum Pals. Wish you could all visit. I'd love to share...

Can I use a TDS meter to guage gravity?

Good enough for me! Thanks again.

Yes, my first beer I am drinking right now.

This was an ale kit that came with my MoreBeer set up. I accidentally reversed the hops. It is quite good and I am sooooooo happy. The wife thinks it's pretty good too! I'm likin' this hobby. A couple more of these bad boys, and I'll like it more!!!:ban:

I use a total dissolved solids meter for hydroponics (legal!). Has anyone ever used one for brewing and if so with success? Thanks!

Should I feel guilty buying online and not local?

Okay, I kid you not. I plan a brew day tomorrow so I go to my HB store and ask about adding Chinook hops to my Cascade to bitter up my beer. So what does she do? She gets online and goes to HBT and searches my question. I tell her I am a member and she goes to a thread I had already seen. Yes...

Should I feel guilty buying online and not local?

There are a lot of good opinions here. 1. I am happy I am about 2miles away from the store. 2. Like I said the info I get for the most part is on the net so I don't go soak them for info and then buy online. 3. I think for the small stuff it justifies the prices. Big orders go to the big online...

Should I feel guilty buying online and not local?

I appreciate the response. I guess it depends on convenience and cost mixed with a touch of loyalty. I really don't know enough about brewing to compare all the different variables. I compared a simple one like the plastic carboy. Morebeer was less then 30.00 while this place was about 37.00. I...

Should I feel guilty buying online and not local?

I have this internal struggle. I want to support my local home brew store but they just can't or don't compete with the price I can find online for most things. If I could justify it by "getting knowledge and training" I would spend the extra 20%. The fact is that with the internet any training...
