I have 2 wires and 1 thermal switch, which won't do. When I tried to clean the tab on the heating element, it crumbled and is now gone. Mate said they have adopted the fan solution for new instruments, so hopefully they can retrofit mine. My patience is running out.

I took my Brewie+ apart today to see what was going on with the last brew and to install the new wires I had received. All wires to the heating element are completely disintegrated. One of the connection tabs on the heating element is completely melted away. The silicone sheet on top of the...

After a long involuntary brewing hiatus and armed with my new grain basket, I was very excited to finally start a brew again yesterday. Everything went well until the boil. My Brewie+ never got the wort over 94C/201F. I have new wires and a switch that I got from Mate that I will install but I...

This is off-topic but in case any of you are interested: I used my B+ in an attempt to make a non-alcoholic beer. I posted results here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/creating-an-na-or-how-i-neutered-my-beer.39433/page-3#post-8489026

Creating an NA (Or...how I neutered my beer)

Since I got a lot of inspiration and helpful tips from this thread, I am posting my experiment results. The objective was to make 4-5 gallons of non-alcoholic (<1% ABV) hoppy pale ale, by using the ethanol boil off method. The short story: I failed. The long story: For the base beer I brewed a...

@HarkinBanks : Did you re-calibrate your Brewie+ before using the new grain basket? I would think it tares itself before filling the tanks but just want to make sure. Thanks!

Response from Chad to my question where and when this will be available: “I have them on my website. its under new products, If you use the search bar for "Brewie" it'll come up, the will come standard as 400 micron.” Is 400 micron the right mesh size? Any info on this is appreciated!

Wow, your connecting tabs are completely gone. Looks like you will need new parts. Sorry man! No clue what the circle thing is. Please keep us posted on your communication with tech support. Thanks!

Most likely it is the same connector issue that I had as well. It seems there was a systemic issue during manufacturing and this its manifestation, as this is happening to lots of people after a few brews. I heard of one case where the connector tab on the heating element was completely melted...

My Brewie is back in business. The connectors to the boil tank heating element were improperly installed and corroded. I am attaching instructions for the fix that I got from someone from the Brewie Owners Group on Facebook. Original author is Kylie Potter. This is to be used with the...

My heating element is toast. I was given the option to send the machine in for repair under warranty or do a self-repair. I opted for the self-repair, hopefully it is faster and it gives me the opportunity to learn more about the Brewie. The instructions look pretty straightforward. I will...

Ugh, my boil tank heating element stopped working AGAIN. It would not turn on at sparge step 1/2 to heat the sparge water to target temp. I finished the brew on my other system but OG was short. At a subsequent test brew, the heating element wouldn't even turn on during the mash preparation...

I have also contacted Utah Biodiesel Supplies who make a Pico Brew basket (https://www.utahbiodieselsupply.com/customwork.php#picobrewer) but they are swamped with pre-Christmas orders and won't work on anything until the new year. Hopefully, between the two we will find a manufacturer for this.

PBW should be safe to use. From Máté at Brewie Customer Support: The short clean is mainly for removing "debris" from the machine. Run a Full clean with dishwasher tablets after 5 brews to keep the pumps clean. Sanitizing Clean is for returning back to brewing from a long time. The ultimate mix...

I was wondering the same thing about the pinch valves. Once unscrewed you can slide them along the silicone tubing which would make it fairly easy to replace the valve and the tubing, at least.

The pump on the mash tun side was gummed up. Cleaning it fixed my heater problem. My Brewie+ is back in business! Still a bit curious how a pump issue manifests itself in a heating element not turning on. I smell some sub-optimal error handling/reporting in software. All in all, I was impressed...

Pictures of Brewie+ innards attached. The buildup inside the silicone tubing between the junctions is worrisome. I guess I will have to do a full clean with PBW, if I can get it back to working.
