    East Coast Yeast Experiment

How would you know you have Bugfarm IV? Mine dated February 13, 2014 (Al one day before Heart Day working hard) does not differentiate on the label.

    East Coast Yeast Experiment

And yes my efficiency sucks per Beersmith. But I think it has to do with the way I entered my setup into the software (you can't select 25 gallon SS pots - only Kegs) and the fact that using that exact recipe will yield me 16.5 gallons of beer when I set the volumes to be 16 with the water and...

    East Coast Yeast Experiment

I hope not.... LOL. 20 is supposed to be a mix of EVERYTHING in the kitchen. 01 has most of it but not all. I tried a Brett only beer (The Bruery's Saison Rue) and I'm not a super big Brett fan. There is nothing bad about it but The Bruery's Oude Tart is my target. This brings me to my...

    East Coast Yeast Experiment

How long? I have 3 five gallon batches of ECY20 started in March 2014. I am going to start 3 more five gallon batches in August 2014. Same exact base beer as the ECY20 batches except one will be ECY01, one ECY02 and one Roeselare. The ECY20 will be roughly 6 months ahead of the other 3 but...

    East Coast Yeast Experiment

Anyone had the pleasure yet of sampling a side by side comparison of Bug Farm (ECY01), Bug County (ECY20) and Flemish Ale (ECY02) with relatively the same base beer?

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

TEFC is highly recommended. It should be considered required for grain milling to avoid death, explosions and other fun stuff like that. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    American Sour Beer – Book!

You should come to Charlotte and get Lenny Boy's to work up some recipe and process info on their Kentucky Creeper!!! Kentucky Creeper 4.4% ABV, Gluten Free! - This wild child was created in the heat of the summer using North Carolina staples! Our in-house culture delivers a fruity nose with...

Wyeast PC July -Sept 2014 - Sourpalooza

that or at least a good blending base. I'm game to try. what sucks is bugs are difficult to plate in the proper proportions so if this thing is only available from July-Sept it may be tough to get if we get hooked on it.... Heck - maybe the cake will support four or five good and zippy batches.

Wyeast PC July -Sept 2014 - Sourpalooza

It would be awesome if a beer like La Folie or The Bruery Oude Tart was ready in 2 months... We can only dream on that. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Belgian Dark Strong Ale The Pious - Westvleteren 12 style quad - multiple

It always starts like that... Your temps are too high for a true phenol profile though. The struggle begins around 1.030 or so. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Belgian Dark Strong Ale The Pious - Westvleteren 12 style quad - multiple

But don't worry too much... I pitched a 5 liter starter into mine in a temp controlled keezer and had to fight it tooth and nail below 1.015... Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Canning Explosion

Maybe canning bandwagon woulda been more clear... Although I do wonder if a home brewer crimping machine will be developed... That would be cool and more convenient than kegs or bottles for traveling such as RV trips. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Tart of Darkness

See post 132 or reference the ToD instructions on more beer or post 20 of this thread. Either option works. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Canning Explosion

Hopefully this will drive the price down for Craft Beer (therefore we can drink more while cloning the ones we really like). http://www.wcnc.com/news/local/Craft-Breweries-Yes-we-can-265001971.html

Belgian Dark Strong Ale The Pious - Westvleteren 12 style quad - multiple

I intend to have it on tap 12 months out of the year (plus another 30 bottles aging in racks for special occasions). Good Chit!

    Plastic OK?

I can tell you that I was very distraught as I poured 1/2 gallon of my Consecration clone down the drain last weekend.... It sucked to have to waste a drop of that precious stuff. Why you might ask? I made three 5.5 gallon batches so the trub/losses due to currant absorption would not reduce...
