    Kettle Trouble

What is your setup like? 3 vessel all grain, brew in a a bag? my initial reaction is you won't have room for everything to work well, (mashing, hop extraction.) If you really want to try it that way I would think using a little more of the specialty grains than necessary, use about half the base...

    Carbonations issues? Fizz Drops?

I'm certainly no expert, as I am having some issues myself, can't seem to get consistent carb levels in my brews, but I have a few thoughts. Are you controlling the temperature of the brew while bottle conditioning? Since the carbonation in your beer is just the retained byproduct of a second...

Adding water after boil, before primary fermentation

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you have the body of flavors to support adding the water. When you can only boil like 3 gallons for a 5 gallon beer, you should still use the same amount (if not a little more) of grains and hops as you would use for the 5 gallon batch. That way when you're done...

    Hop flavor vs. aroma ????

I'm not disagreeing with your premise here but I think the results you want are achievable with a little more research. If you want a large hop flavor without an overwhelming smell, it is possible, I've had beers like that, so it can be done. I think it's finding that fine balance of when to add...

    Wiring Diagram Critique?

If you did this and kept the fan running I think it'll be fine Just be sure to have an extra one on hand because you should be able to change it out in 10 minutes if need be, and you don't want to lose a brew day when you're half way though.

    Wiring Diagram Critique?

Maybe a little late since you've already cut the holes in the case, but the SSR will last a lot longer if you get the heatsink outside the case for better airflow. I blew an SSR within the first 2 brews on my eBrewery and I'm fairly certain it's because there just wasn't enough airflow around...

    Hose management

Also Going to weigh in on the silicone tubing. It can be autoclaved (AKA pressure cooker) sanitized to kill everything. Coiling is much less of an issue, and because it's so stretchy, it can be used for slightly bigger hoses too. I just switched my auto-siphon to the larger size and didn't need...

Fermentation Chamber, Swamp cooler-ish. Input please.

I plan on attaching the probe to the carboy as you mention. Why did you switch from that method? was it not working for you or just not worth everything being wet? And what did you switch to? What kind of controller were you using? I have a PID that I am hoping is smart enough once an autotune...

Where to buy internal wire for control panel?

Easier and also more durable. Stranded wire will hold up better to bending when opening and closing the door. Not that you should have to do this a lot once it's perfected, but during trouble shooting and modification down the road could save a lot of headaches. Especially be sure to use...

Fermentation Chamber, Swamp cooler-ish. Input please.

Good input, I think this should help make most temp chambers a little more efficient, (full fridge is more efficient than an empty one.) Especially for someone who has a habit of opening it a lot. And bricks are easy to come by and don't spill. I still think the direct contact of the water...

Where to buy internal wire for control panel?

On the cheap/free side, keep your eyes out for junk appliances. I wired everything, (except the 30A stuff,) with the wiring harness I pulled out of a junk washer. Best part about it is there are several wires sizes and many colors to make tracing wires in your panel a breeze. Wiring wasn't done...

Fermentation Chamber, Swamp cooler-ish. Input please.

So I want to build a fermentation chamber and I have the same idea as a lot of people here to basically build a mini fridge into a larger cabinet to cool, and I have several different ideas of how to heat it. Currently I have been using an old school electric blanket (the kind that doesn't...

    Reusing White Labs vials.

I've used them for liquid cooking ingredients when backpacking, where weight and space leans away from bring the full syrup or ketchup bottles.

    Favorite I-Phone Apps

Again, not a homebrew app, but for craft beer I like "untapped". Good and simple for keeping track of what you've had. some social networking if you want it, and you can earn BADGES...ooooh badges.

    New Guy - NE Ohio

Welcome to the obsession. I'm in Kent and since you're new to this I'll give a shout out to my LHBS, "Label Peelers." They're in Kent and have good prices, but the reason I bring it up is they have free brewing classes the first Saturday of every month, just call to let them know you're coming...

    Another brewstand

+1 on this new layout. Maybe a little harder to store? I'm sure it'll tuck into a corner well enough.

    Another brewstand

I like the idea of removable outrigger type things. I was just thinking if it were me I'd be tripping over them all the time, especially on a brew day :drunk: How about a sheet of 1/2" plywood laid down, just screw the four corners in during your brew day. Easy, cheap, more-or-less out of the...

    Will this effect my beer?

It'll be fine. Even 20 minutes in a shower (just running water, not in a stopped tub?) probably wouldn't bring 5 gal up too much in temperature. I'm sure the plastic bucket doesn't have very efficient thermal transfer either. RDWHAHB:)
