2nd brew, Asking for recipe help.

I ran this through beersmith and came up with the following I cut the DME to .5 pound (save the rest in a ziploc) and I cut the c40 to .25 The reason for this was your bitterness to gravity ratio is off so you wouldnt get ipa bitterness without using a fair amount of your aroma and flavor hops...

    All water calculators are bunk

I use Brun. I have found it is rarely more that .10 off in a direction from my Hach ph meter when I use RO.

    All water calculators are bunk

I'm asking this question out of genuine curiosity and not to troll. What does any of this matter to the average home brewer? I have used Brun and RO water for years now and I can't recall the last time I was off significantly from my estimated Ph. What does .1 or .2 difference really make...

Old pin locks and universal poppets

I have found that the universals can sit a little weird and sometimes need to be adjusted. If it holds pressure over night you are fine, You can also just spray the post with star san once under pressure to see if it leaks.

Fellowship of the Drink XIII: Nightmare on Doug Street

I would love to get my hands on some interesting farmhouse ales and dry saisons or foeder sours if anyone is local to places specializing in these types of things and would like some NE florida beers. Florida is pretty much lactose and juice country now adays.

How is my krausen looking? Is this even classes as krausen?

the top of the ring is how high your krausen was. So looks like you had at least an inch of krausen for a few days. Airlock activity isn't a judge of whats going on. especially if you are using a bucket where the lid may not seal well or if you have a large headspace which it looks like you...

    New equipment overhall suggestions

I use a o2 wand. Some sort of O2 setup is your best option. The bucket isnt that heavy but the legs and the large opening would make shaking a pain and mess.

    New equipment overhall suggestions

I have a single tier 3 vessel Electric herms setup and I enjoy it. While building my system I did a lot of BIAB. If I hadn't already invested in my 3 vessel kettles I would have considered an EBIAB system. If you just want to hit the reset button and use propane. I would consider the...

50a panel vs 30a electric brewery

For 20 gallon batches I would want a 50a panel. I have a 30a panel and mostly do 6 gallon batches. When I do a 12 gallon batch there is a noticeable difference In time. If you are building or buying a panel from a place like ebrewsupply the panel cost isn’t that different. The home...

    Flavorings - Where to go?

Monin make a great flavor concentrate. I have used several of them with good results. I have won a few fruit beer medals with the strawberry and pineapple. I generally use real fruit for beers I drink at home but will often use 1-2ml of these extracts in a bottle to turn a base beer into a...
