Homebrewfinds.com recerc draft line cleaner build

I was reading through this: http://www.homebrewfinds.com/2012/02/recirculating-draft-line-cleaning-build.html And I was pondering if you could use a similar pump to make a DIY version of Mark's Keg Washer (http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/mark-s-keg-washer.html)? I was thinking of...

How can I tell what my main panel is?

Drat, can't see it without pulling it. I'll find a time when I can shut off the whole house and pull it.

How can I tell what my main panel is?

I closed the access door and saw that it read "100 amp panel" would that indicate 100a service? There are two big fuse holders that have two 35a tube fuses each; so the biggest service looks to be 70a.

How can I tell what my main panel is?

Hoping to upgrade to an e-brew setup this year. We have a fuse box instead of a breaker panel and the swmbo has vetoed the idea of upgrading the panel just for me to brew with. So, I'm trying to figure out what amperage my main panel is. What should I be looking for? I know that I have one...

    1 pid, 2 ssr, 110v?

Can you stick a 2000w element on a 15a circuit? I checked the fuse box and I have one 20a and one 15a circuit to my workshop. I have a pre-existing oven surround with a ballsy vent fan which is where I'm planning on brewing. Is there anyway to determine how much juice the fan draws? It's...

    1 pid, 2 ssr, 110v?

What would the minimum wattage required be to boil 5-7 gallons of wort? I have a 20a 110v outlet and I think another 15-20A 110v outlet in separate portions of my workshop.

Planning an E-Build how many outlets?

A possible hiccup? I don't have a modern breaker box in our current home; just a screw in fuse box. This might be REALLY dumb but is it possible to install 50A service in a fuse box?

Planning an E-Build how many outlets?

Awesome. Putting in a single 50A outlet shouldn't break the bank when the main panel for the house is less than 2 feet away. I hope.

Planning an E-Build how many outlets?

........I'm a moron :). So with two pumps, two elements and the BCS would I need to have an outlet for each component or something less?

Planning an E-Build how many outlets?

Awesome! I have VERY little knowledge of how e-systems work and that makes total sense. Nope, would only be running a max of 2 elements at a time. Would you suggest the 4500's or 5500's? I also know I have some additional reading on BCS builds to see how they go together. My working...

Planning an E-Build how many outlets?

"So, why not use the BK and HLT to boil instead of the BK and MLT?" and "You now have to drain the MLT someplace before you can sparge it, so you need an additonal vessel of some sort, right?" Both are VERY good points. The reason I want to boil in the MLT and not the HLT is that when...

Planning an E-Build how many outlets?

Since I will be using the MLT also as a boil kettle it will need an element capable of boiling 5-10 gallons of wort. The boil kettle will need the same capability. For the HLT I was thinking of using the same element so that I can heat my strike water faster. But looking at the chart at...

Planning an E-Build how many outlets?

Short answer: A HERMS system. Long answer: 15 gal HERMS system using a duda diesel B3-23A plate chiller as a heat exchanger with three level filtration prior to the wort hitting the heat exchanger.

Planning an E-Build how many outlets?

I am just in the planning stages of a basement e-build centered around a BCS-462. I am lucky enough that the main electrical panel is literally on the other side of the wall from my future brewspace. Unfortunately I have to hire an electrician to run some more outlets. Here's what I am...

First boil in an aluminum kettle and the inside turns blackish?

I've had this pot: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001CHJI30/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 for a while now and haven't yet had the opportunity to use it. Following some folks suggestions I boiled 10ish (eyeballed it) gallons of water on my burner first prior to actually using it to brew. The...

I am a bonehead, now how do I fix this?

I've done plenty of bone-heading :). Just one more thing to chalk up to experience. And I totally hear your point on secondarying (or lack there of) for a stout. I had just done an Irish Red and transferred it out of secondary so I was in 'the mood' I guess and not thinking (which leads to...

I am a bonehead, now how do I fix this?

No lactose in the recipe. My measured OG was 1.065 but I don't 100% believe that. It was a partial boil partial mash recipe and I'm not certain that I had the whole solution mixed correctly prior to taking the reading. Soon as I can I'm going for full boils so I don't have to worry about this...

They are encapsulated in lawn/leaf bags :). We'll see what happens.

    HERMS thought

WOW! I've been away awhile and didn't think I'd had many replies. This has been a great thread to read and has given me a bunch of ideas for my eventual e-brew setup. I LOVE the flexibility of the three vessel system as it will allow me to mash, then boil while also boiling another batch...

I am a bonehead, now how do I fix this?

"Wait, you took a new sample after you added priming sugar? " Uh.........*head desk* yes, I did. And I am a moron. When I transferred it to secondary it was 1.010. And the test cylinder was the laaaaaaast hurrah from the bottling bucket and had some sediment in it as well. So that could...
