New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

So my experiment has hit a crossroads. I've been keeping a much closer eye on my ph levels lately and noticed that my last two beers mashed at a higher ph than I predicted. I was using a new malt so assumed that might be affecting things (I always calibrate on brew day and keep the probe wet but...

Here's the article couch sending mentioned: https://beerandbrewing.com/elements-of-beer-recycling-hops-in-the-brewhouse/ A starting point for whirlpool utilisation:

I did go for it. I went straight into the fermenter from the previous beer. I had given the previous beer a prolonged crash before dry hopping so less yeast than usual. I also managed to siphon off all the beer and then dumped a bit out of the bottom, I ended up with Approx 2L of hops to begin...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Has anyone ever pitched wort onto a previous dry hop? I have a very clean dry hop from a previous beer that was in contact for 48 hours (cali ipa) and I'm considering pitching my hazy wort straight onto it like a day 1 dry hop. I'm tempted to experiment and take one for the team. I'll be able...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

A few years back I went on a mission of brewing ipas without the usual suspects to see what I could learn while trying to re-convince myself that homebrewing was actually saving me money! A few favourites arose: wai-iti, sultana, trident, eureka, centennial, idaho 7, nectaron, nelson... I'm...

Also, great name. Italian football coach gattuso came put with that if I remember right.

30% chit? How did that turn out? What does it being at such high percentages? Amazing hop combo too - does anything stand out?

Sounds like Heady Topper? I've only tried it a couple of times but the bitterness stood out.

2024 galaxy has been pretty good for me. I've only used it in the dry hop along with other heavy hitters but I've been pleased so far. I don't get peanut shells from it anyway! Great to see people order from beerco too, the owner has always been a really nice guy.

I do this sometimes too but I can see everything in my fermzilla. I do wonder though because the smells are amazing - am I smelling something that should be in the final beer? Probably not but who knows.

Thanks for the detailed post on your beer. Very generous of you. I remember the back and forth and the disbelief from many back in the day that you could make a hazy beer without wheat or oats! I think the 5 to 5.5% heavily hopped pale is my favourite way to drink this style and one I enjoy...

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

This is a good call and thanks for the list. My mate lives in Brooklyn and has taken me to a few good spots including Torst. I had one of those moments that live long in the memory there - trying my first alchemist heady topper well and truly buzzed whilst listening to Marty Robbins sing big...

This is true. I actually really like the 5.5% DDH hazy pale ale style. I find it more of a challenge to brew too because everything has got to be properly balanced or the mouthfeel is way off. But I digress!

Thanks mate. Yeah I've been to Grimm & Other Half which we're both great. I still remember looking around in shock as people we swilling 10.5% pints of triple IPA on a Sunday afternoon!

I'm en route to the US from Australia as we speak. Nola & NYC. Does anyone have any recommendations for me in terms of breweries to try that are doing this style (and IPAs in general) well. I know there is not as much of a craft beer scene in New Orleans but New York should be a different story...

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

Yeah I've had their "clean fusion" beers. I mean, they are one of the best ipa brewers in Australia so their beers are usually pretty solid. Haven't been able to do a side by side comparison to see how much better their beers are with this process but what I can say is that I wasn't rushing out...

They call it clean fusion. I was thinking the same thing. Brewery is called one drop. They make some great beers to be fair but seem determined to coin the next DDH or hdhc or whatever.

I've had peacharine in a few beets here now and it was pretty good. I wasn't blown away and rushing back to get more though so it's not like it's the next & greatest in my opinion. I'm personally more looking forward to the NZ hops being available in cryo, I think that could be a game changer...

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

Got one of these approaching the end of fermentation. Went all NZ hops I picked up from the source a few months back. Going Nelson, Motueka, Taikeke, 2,1,1. The best version I've tried here was nelson/riwaka but couldn't get the riwaka from nz hops. Incidentally the breweries here in OZ seem to...

Choice Bros. Was called phlex. Was just a really fresh beer that hit all the good nz notes. The guys were so generous and sent me the recipe too.
