Advice for a brewer who doesn't drink

Seeing as how you have never drank beer, of the four times you have drank, I would suggest trying at least a sip of one of your batches. You may end up liking beer and if you have self control you won't have any problems. Not liking the taste of alcohol based solely on your experience with...

I cannot wait to get started on mine next spring! I'm going to have to meet up with you to check this one out and maybe steal some idea's from it.

How many breweries have you been to?

About 50 myself. I collect growlers from every new brewpub I go to. Or most at least. I've got roughly 40 sitting on the ledge surrounding my living room/ kitchen.

^How did that Juniper strong ale turn out? I remember you telling me about it but couldn't remember if I followed up on that.

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

That is correct. Some of the unthreaded part of the nipple should be protruding through to the outside of the cooler.

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

I just did this using 3 SS washers outside plus 1 ss inside. Leaks a few drops a minute or so but I think my cooler has a thinner wall so I will need to get more washers to make up for the lost thickness. Mine is a blue Lowe's igloo cooler.

    Brewtus 10 kits

Any update on shipping costs? I'd likely be interested for a weld yourself kit or a bolt together this spring after I pay my tuition pending shipping prices.

I never brew beer before so I need advice on how to start.

Go to your local home brew shop. Talk to them about it. Generally, at least in my area, they are very helpful and can supply you with just what you need to do your first brew without upselling you on things you don't need.

Mt. Tabor! A good family friend of mine is very good friends with Eric. Have yet to visit the taproom due to my work schedule but I hear such good things! I told the family friend to give Eric my cell # and if he wants any good free help when he brews on the weekends to give me a call!

Another brew stand - 10 months in the making

This stand is one of the better one's I've seen on the forum in my last few days of reading through build threads! If you don't mind me asking, could you PM me info on where you got the tubing and cost? Haven't found any pricing info online from some of the portland area metal shops and have...

how much room to leave in fermenter?

Gotcha. I did the same on my first go a few months ago. I now use a 6.5G carboy as a primary and have some 5G's as secondary's. I still use a blowoff for the first little bit of primary just because I don't want any surprise explosions.

how much room to leave in fermenter?

I would put a blowoff on it just in case. What are you using as a fermenter?

Welcome from the other side of the Columbia! I'm new here as well, if you couldn't tell by my post count. I just began brewing a few months back and found myself similarly addicted. It is a craft I have grown to love and I constantly find myself on the forum's, or google-ing, or reading articles...
