Brooklyn Brewshop Punk IPA, No Fermenter Activity

The Punk IPA kit was my first too. I did see noticeable fermentation with mine, but I watched it like a new born baby. I suggest waiting 3 weeks before bottling.. Bottled mine after 2 and it was not done. Had gizers when I popped the caps. Ended up loosing half of each bottle. Is a very tasty...

This Really Annoys Me Pet Peeve Thread

People that stand 1 inch from you in line at the store. Like they are afraid somebody will cut in front of them. I call them butt huggers. There is this thing called personal space. I like to fart on them. Thought about getting "BACK OFF F@#$ER" tattooed to the back of my neck.

Hop Options for the Adventurous Brewer

I love Azacca. Just made a SmaSh with it. One of my favorites I've made so far. 7c's is good to. Have also used New Zealand Wiamea. Nice tropical notes.

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

I'm sorry. Didn't know that I wasn't allowed to have the same opinion as somebody else.

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Coors Light. It's just watered down carbonated urine. Nasty coating on your tongue that doesn't go away for 2 days. Can't drink anything from Budwiser either. Just bad stuff. Bud gives me a nasty headache, even if I only drink 1/2 a bottle.

    Confession Time

I don't clean my equipment. Just rinse with hot water, until there is no visible gunk on them. Then I sanitize on my next brew day. Also use a whole package of us-05 in 1 gallon batches.

keep a 5 gallon igloo warm for sour

Wish I'd seen that one when I bought the one I have. Mine shuts off after an hour. I did by it for muscle pain, which it is perfect for. It did work out well draping a blanket over the pot to retain heat. After 2 days, only resetting the heating pad 4 or 5 times each day, I had the perfect...

keep a 5 gallon igloo warm for sour

I used a heating pad under a stainless steel pot Then draped a blanket over the top to hold the heat I . I think an electric blanket would work better, since it can be set to one temp for continues heat. Heating pads tend to reset after a certain amount of time. I did have success with mine, but...

I think they're hot, but you probably don't

Never really thought Katie Sackhoff was hot. Attractive maybe, but not hot. Her attitude is what makes her appealing. She does fill out that police uniform nicely on Longmier.

    Headache

To answer all the questions at once: I always drink lots of water. Do not mill my own grain. Electric stove. Exhausts outside-I can smell it when I go out back coming out the vent. No CO detector. Could be the stress of worrying that I forgot something.

    Headache

Random question. Does anybody else get a headache when they brew? I brew small batches on my stove top. Use the exhaust fan the whole time, but for some reason I get a headache every time. It doesn't creep up on me until the brew day is done. I know what your thinking, too many beers during the...

    Trader Joe's "bottle bomb" recall...

I picked up a few of these hoping to use them to bottle beer. It seems to me that the glass is to thin for bottle conditioning. I have some other swing tops that are noticeably thicker that I use. Also in the ingredients it says carbonated water. That tells me that they didn't feel safe enough...

    Tropical Northeast IPA

Not familiar with the style, but am curious about what the flour is for.

    Want to experiment

This is exactly what I had planned. I am an avid fan of the sour hour podcast, and milk the funk. My plan is to use a probiotic to sour, either in a sour mash, or I'm thinking of doing a sour wort instead. I have done a sour mash and had good drinkable beer in 4 weeks. Was even better after 2...

    Want to experiment

I thought it was an allergy too, but I don't have any issues with bread or other wheat products. Just beer. I was thinking about the same thing: just mo, with caramel 40l.

    Want to experiment

I should add that I am open to style, but nothing with wheat. For some reason wheat beers give me nasty headaches. Thinking of an american ale or brown ale.

    Want to experiment

I'm bored and want to try a basic beer to sour. I have Willamette hops and us-05 yeast, so just need the grains. Only doing 1 gallon, with a sour mash. I have been wreaking my brain trying to figure out what to do. Thinking of using Maris Otter for a base malt, but not sure what else. I also...
