    whirlpooling

OK so would you run the whirlpool first only recirculating the the BK itself without the chiller....run that for say 5 mins and then let it settle, and then start the recirculation through the plate chiller and back to the BK until temp is down, then redirect to the fermenter?

    whirlpooling

Yeah I would be using a false bottom and that should stay away from the center pickup tube. I guess I am looking more for help on the actual process/steps to take and in what order.

    whirlpooling

Would I be correct in thinking this setup would work? I plan on using a false bottom with a center pickup in my BK. Then I am installing a recirculation port up top/side with a whirpool tube. I will be using a plate chiller for cooling. I was thinking of using a pump to move the wort from...

    Keggle return ports?

I have always used pellet hops and extract/partial mash brewing. This is my first brewstand build, and move to all grain. So I would like to/plan on using whole hops instead of pellet. Looking at Catt's pics, it looks like it does a decent job of catching pellet hops. If I were to do pellet...

    Keggle return ports?

Do you guys use a false bottom in both your MLT and BK along with a whirlpool tube on your recirculation port for both?

    Keggle return ports?

OK so if I decide to put return ports on all three vessels, what would you put on the inside of those connections? I would assume for the MLT I would do a copper or SS tube coming down for a whirlpool effect, but for the HLT and BK what fittings do you put on the inside?

    Keggle return ports?

I am in the process of building a single tier system with three burners. My question is, should I install return ports/bulkheads on all three of my keggles? I will be using a 2 pump system. I plan on recirculating the wort in the MLT with direct heat. I am just wondering if I need a return...

    Weldless brew stand.

I used an angle grinder with a metal cutting wheel. Worked fine for me.

    Weldless brew stand.

Nice! I really like how you have the gas installed on the back. Do you find that it works well or not being in the back?

    Weldless brew stand.

What length hoses do you guys use? By my calculations, 4 foot sections should work well. Just wanted to see what y'all recommend before I purchase the tubing. Thanks

    Weldless brew stand.

Yeah I am not sure what I am going to do with the bottom yet...I need to see how I am going to do the gas plumbing as to whether I will build a shelf/bottom or not. I need to order my burners, etc and get those mounted as well.

    Weldless brew stand.

I looked locally as well and couldn't find what I needed, so I ended up getting everything from McMaster Carr. I got the framing, nuts/bolts, and the corner pieces from them. It was cheaper than anything i could find locally, parts arrived the next day with $11 shipping...not bad. Granted I am...

Here are a couple of pics of what I got accomplished today.

    Weldless brew stand.

I built mine today and it seems pretty stable. I haven't tested with all three kegs on and filled up though.

    Bottling for competition

So going from forty degrees in the keg to a bottle in the fridge, then shipping it to the competition it gets warm, and then they cool it down again won't be an issue?

    Bottling for competition

I keg all of my brews and just submitted my first beer to a competition. I filled the bottles from the keg with the makeshift counter pressure filler using a cobra tab, piece of racking cane, and a #2 drilled stopper. Everything worked great. What I am worried about is the beer is obviously...

How to clean a Perlick Faucet

I have some PBW to soak the parts in, once that is done and rinsed, would dipping it in some iodophor be fine?

How to clean a Perlick Faucet

I have a couple of Perlick forward sealing faucets and it is time to break them down and clean them. Does anyone have a good write up on this? What all do you break down, how, and what method of cleaning do you use. Thanks!
