I might have received adulterated honey

Did you buy this from a trusted source? Somewhere that you've gotten honey from before? I've gotten honey with a thin coat of foam on it before, but never the thick stuff you described. Weird🤔

    S'mores Mead

Just so you're aware, he hasn't been seen since Oct 28, 2019, so he probably made it, but who knows how it came out

    What's on deck for 2023?

Sadly, not yet. But I still have the plan in the works. The hardest part will be incorporating the walnut & butter flavors as they both have oils. I did manage to find some water soluble extracts, but I haven't bought them yet. Extracts are stupid expensive & I'm always a little hesitant to...

    Cyser Funk

Sometimes, apple can give off a funky odor. In my experience, it ages out relatively soon after fermentation is complete. I typically add spices to secondary because a lot of those notes that you're looking to keep get burped out of the airlock. My suggestion would be to let primary finish...

    Mead Class... Looking for suggestions

If this helps you...as a general rule, for my own purposes, if my SG is under 1.100, I typically add all the nutrient additions up front, because it tends to go fast enough that I miss the 1/3 & 2/3 sugar breaks & it doesn't effect the outcome flavor wise. 😁 Also, nutrients won't be fully used...

    Mead Class... Looking for suggestions

As we're mine, blindly following a certain YouTube channel, (notorious for their bad mead making practices). After doing some homework & a lot of reading, I realized very quickly there was way more to it than just throwing stuff together & waiting for it to be done. Tosna was by far one of...

Bochet GROUP BREW - Solera Style

I use a wine whip to mix honey & water with all of my batches & it works great. One of my cordless drills has become a permanent fixture in my mead lab.

My first no water mead attempt

Your yeast are probably just assessing to banquet you just laid out for them & are wondering where to start. After all, that's quite a bit of sugars. No matter, if you started with a healthy colony & you keep up with staggered nutrient feedings, it should be ok & the yeast shouldn't be too...

Bochet GROUP BREW - Solera Style

Thank you very much. This is some great information that I will definitely incorporate into my practices. I just ordered the wand & flow meter for my mead lab:mischievous::thumbsup:🧑‍🔬🧫🧪⚗️

Bochet GROUP BREW - Solera Style

@MightyMosin .. Where did you get the nozzle for the pure O2 tank? Also, how long do you purge the must or starter with pure O2? Seconds? Minutes? Hours? I currently just use an air pump meant for adding O2 to a fish tank with (two) 0.5 micron SS diffusion stones, just using the same air...

My version of Chocolate/Cherry/Vanilla/Pomegranate mead recipe

Closest I've found to the quantity I'm looking for... 1/4 lb or about 113 grams.

Anything to make a better mead😁. Thanks, @MightyMosin

My version of Chocolate/Cherry/Vanilla/Pomegranate mead recipe

After looking around for it, it's not available on MoreBeer or MoreWine, & where I can find it, it's for sale in either 6 or 8 gram packages....or....2.5 Kg...WTF!🤣

My version of Chocolate/Cherry/Vanilla/Pomegranate mead recipe

I'm sure it will do just as well with the Clover, as it is considered by many as a carrier honey, like you said, just providing the sugars instead of bringing unique flavors to the table. I'm going to have to look into that. I've never used it. I have questions though...... You added the...

    Auto Siphons 3/8" vs 1/2"

My original acrylic graduated cylinder started to spider web on me. I believe, @ least in my case, that the StarSan had started to break down the plastic. Luckily, I buy spares of everything so I just tossed it & washed the new one.

    Auto Siphons 3/8" vs 1/2"

Where do you all get the 1/2" from? My LHB shop doesn't have any & Amazon is hit or mostly miss, with most of the reviews being crap. Thanks in advance, for anyone who takes the time to reply. Happy meading 😎

    Question about adding fruit

If you're using a carboy, it's nearly impossible to use a brew bag. Using a bag saves so much headache when removing fruit additions. Once you use a bag, it's hard going back. If you're using a bucket & a brew bag, I recommend @ least mashing it a bit but not trying to make puree out of it...

    Question about adding fruit

I typically wash fresh fruit with Veggie Wash, (which is citrus based) then rinse very well. That has always worked for me, but I tend to use frozen fruit a lot & have never had an issue with it bringing in anything funky. That said, a lot of people do add a Campden tablet (potassium...
