    Using litlle sugar on mead?

For crystallized honey, put it in a pot with some warm water. (If you have a thermometer, try to keep the water under 100°F)....after the honey has been in there for a while, shake it up or stir it the get the crystallized honey to liquefy. Crystallized honey will throw off your gravity...

    Fermaid-k instead of fermaid-o

I typically add my nutrients at the 1/3 & 2/3 sugar breaks, (meaning after 1/3 & 2/3 of the sugars have been consumed). If you find your ferment is moving along quicker than normal, sometimes that schedule would be altered to 24, 48, & 72 hrs. I'm pretty certain yours will be fine if you...

Nope, wants me to join to see it, no extra $$ for that right now. Thanks, though.

    Using litlle sugar on mead?

To answer your question, yes, it's OK to add sugar or any other fermentable sugar to achieve a higher ABV. Not that it matters, but why not just add more honey instead of sugar? Is it a cost issue? Clover honey along with most wildflower honeys are considered carrier honeys, meaning they...

How many gallons of Mead 2023

What's the recipe, please? Thank you, in advance, if you do reply. Happy meading 😎

    Fermaid-k instead of fermaid-o

Yes, you can use Fermaid K in place of the Fermaid O. Fermaid K has DAP in it so, I would recommend adding it before your gravity reaches 1.035 or the yeast may not be able to consume all of it. I hope this helps you. Happy meading 😎

    Mead from Comb-in Honey

This sounds very intriguing 🤔. I may have to try something like this on a smaller scale. I'll ask my local beekeeper if he has any comb that he wouldn't sell, if he would consider selling cheaper for the experiment.

Fruit bits in melomel after 1st racking?

Yes, I get these bags, I have many actually. I just wanted to know if the ones from the paint aisle were food safe.....likely cheaper than the 250 micron bags I use.

Fruit bits in melomel after 1st racking?

Agreed. Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries & the seeds from blueberries to name a few (+1). Mesh bags are worth their weigh in gold. After the 3rd melomel I made I switched to using bags for all my additives, spices included. I bought some small 3"×4" bags just for spices. Cheap enough...

Would love some help on this Cyser recipe

Ok. I wasn't sure. This seems like a good recipe, but I certainly wouldn't recommend something as complex as this to a new mead maker. Myself, I would scale it down to a 1 gallon batch to try it & see if it needed tweaking before going all out on the 5 gallon batch, but that's just the...
