    Keggles any good?

My keggles cost me $225.00 ea, fitted with 2 weld-less fittings, 2 stainless ball valves (3 pc), site glass, thermometer and pickup tube. This includes the $75 cost for the keg from my local bar. I did the install myself. It is still way cheaper to build your own keggle vs buying a 15 gal...

    How close is your (L)HBS

We have a few in Winnipeg but the prices and selection on grains, hops, yeast sucks. So, I order from Northern Brewer and have items shipped to Pembina, ND which is only a 3 hr round trip drive including border wait times. It could be worse.

I'm hooked and I have yet to taste my HB!

I guess you can say I'm kinda methodical. :) It probably took me a good 3 months of reading before I decided the system that would best fit my needs. Then it was just a matter of finding materials and building a system. As everyone knows though, it's an ongoing project. But fun as heck! :)

I'm hooked and I have yet to taste my HB!

Prior to my first brew day I spent approx 6 months reading, learning and building my AG setup and I have to give a shout out and thanks to this great forum and the members. Cheers! I have brewed 4 batches, 3 are in primary (Belgian Strong Ale, American Ale, Oatmeal Stout) and 1 was bottled...

    Yeast Starter Question

With a 2l starter I would cold crash it and decant. But that's just me. Pull it out of the fridge the morning of brew day, decant and let it warm up to your fermentation temp, then pitch it when your ready to.

    Slow Fermentation Advise Needed

OK guys, thanks for the advise. I'll sit back and wait it out, take another reading in 4 days or so and take it from there. Does a REALLY slow fermentation have any bad side effects? Let's assume it continues to drop 6 points every 4 days and doesn't reach FG for another 5 to 6 weeks. Is that...

    Slow Fermentation Advise Needed

I brewed a Belgian strong ale on July 7 and had an OG of 1.090. I had some issues with my yeast starter and wasn't able to pitch until the following day, July 8. I also fear that I under pitched due to my issues. I did not aerate the wort at the time of pitching. My bad. I had a very active...

    Yeast Starter Question

I'm worried that I don't have the proper cell count if I pitched now.

    Yeast Starter Question

Just to update. I created a 2 litre starter and let it sit on the stir plate for 24 hrs. At that point I took the flask off the stir plate and let it sit for approx 8 to allow the yeast to settle to the bottom of the flask, then decanted. I then added another 1 litre water/100g DME to the flask...

    Yeast Starter Question

My next brew session I am doing a high gravity Belgian dark ale. I use BeerSmith 2 for my software and it is calling for 493 billion yeast cells (Wyeast Trappist High Gravity #3787). I want to know if it is possible to get 493 cells from a 2L flask/stir plate? My thinking is this. 200g DME...

    Hello from central Canada

Greetings all from Winnipeg Canada. I have been a long time lurker here so I feel like I know many of you already and I thank you for the knowledge I have gained from the members here. After a few years hiatus from brewing primarily from extract kits I have decided to make the jump to all...
