    New to home brew

Agreed. Everyone starts somewhere; my temp control is a sink, two frozen 2 liters and a swamp cooling tub. Primitive? Yes. Effective? Yes. Very little upfront cost. Admittedly, the batches cooled are small ~4 gallons. But it works.

    What are you drinking now?

4th time is the charm. Not a perfect Irish red, but the Near Dark is close enough.

Rogue Shakespeare or Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout?

I recently acquired a Brewcraft USA Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout extract kit on Marketplace - 3 lbs Briess Brewers Gold DME, 2 lbs dark DME, 1 lb Belgian Candi sugar, 3.5 lbs steeping grains, 4 oz Cascade, Mangrove Jack WC M44 ale yeast. I am unfamiliar with the stout this recipe was cloned...

    What are you drinking now?

I'll take a bad day in Kauai over almost any day in South Jersey. One of those mimosas wouldn't hurt either.

What I did for beer today

Saved a stout extract kit from extinction; will be brewing it, with some modifications in a few weeks. Did a bottle inventory, and the bottles that the Irish stout'll be packaged in will probably see the end of their long service. Dismantled and cleaned my bottling buckets; one is going to the...

What I did for beer today

Received my first-ever bulk (1 lb) hop purchase from Michigan Hop Alliance; hope that First Gold is as good as I've heard.

What I did for beer today

Near Dark is bottled; hopefully my Irish red curse of the past four years is broken. Took apart bottling bucket afterward, deep cleaned spigot, soft-scrubbed bubbler. Leftover in the Weyerbacher glass that I didn't have a bottle prepped for tasted pretty damn good

    Sunday Morning

Interesting thread; hope to some-Sunday have content worthy of posting. For now, killing 30 minutes at a brewery near my son's sleepover with their new Caddie Corner red before picking him up

    What are you drinking now?

Enjoying a River Toms nitro ESB at south-central NJ Toms River Brewing. In my limited experience, an excellent example of the style; wish I'd taken a picture, even my 13-yr old son said it's the most perfect beer he's ever seen.

    What are you drinking now?

As per usual, beer looks stellar. Those pretzels are a disappointing sidekick.

Can you get used/accustomed to smoked beer?

Honesty is always the best policy.
