    Don't Do That.

I typically store my keggles upside down in my basement with the various sundry equipment stacked on top. Today I couldn't find my recirculation silicone hose that hooks up to my auto sparge. No problem I just cut another one and went on with my brew day. I usually forget or lose something...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

Thats pretty darn neet. I suppose it's too early to see if the geartrain will stand up to hard-use.. I'd sure like to know how it does over time... did you put bearings on the main-shaft/etc.. it looks like it, but hard to see in the pic

The Great Gravity Showdown - Hydrometer vs. Digital Hydrometer vs. Refractometer vs...

I can't speak for the op, however I find the easydens pretty easy to use with carbonated samples. Even standard room temp samples contain some carbonation so when testing just about anything (except pre fermentation) you need to Degas the sample. This is simple to do with a syringe used for...

Mash Efficiency stunk again! What happened?!

Worst case it's gonna be sweet. But it'll still be beer..

Mash Efficiency stunk again! What happened?!

bag vs not (false bottom?) really doesn't matter that much -- they are more about convenience and equipment capability than anything.. grain crush, temp, and sparge technique make the biggest immediate difference to mash efficiency (imho), once you get those dialed in, mash ph, water...

Mash Efficiency stunk again! What happened?!

60 minute mash at 165f seems suspect to me? typo? thats just shy of where I typically mash-out. if you really are mashing that high I would suspect that most of your conversion is into unfermentables and the lower temp enzymes aren't being allowed to do any real work. also a question about...

    My mostly automated brucontrol setup

Be careful with that pump. Not sure what kind of pump it is. But if it is a rotary vein pump it could exceed the psi rating of your conical. (Though I could be wrong).

Which Honeywell control valves are typically used? I'm planning to automate the burners and mash control on my rig this summe as well as convert to natural gas. Not really wanting to go electric at the moment. I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere.

3000 rpm stir plate too much?

you could probably add a speed control for that fan.. something like: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000F9DAL2/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 also, the PSU case is likely magnetic.. will that cause any issues with your magnets not being strong enough to couple with and spin the stirbar? I like the...

holy huge a$$ counterflow chiller batman! is the smaller coil in the pot under the stand a HERMS/temp control thing? I notice you have a temp probe directly on the output side of it going back into the mashtun (I assume it's a mashtun).. how do you modulate the temperature in that? (is there...

DIY Glycol Chiller system (fermentor external)

I followed this post to do my own sanke keg, and originally planned to do as you are asking.. soldering the entire length of the copper tube to the keg would be much better imho, then using thermal conductive silicone. the problem i ran into, was being able to heat the keg and tube sufficiently...
