What I did for beer today

Ya. It was 55/45 wheat/barley. I've not done an extract batch in years. I usually brew 10g on Easter but didn't plan very well this year so a small extract batch was just right for keeping the tradition.

What I did for beer today

Brewed an small batch (2.5gal) extract "weisse bier".. didn't buy the right hops, used 3lb wheat dme. This is basically a SMaSH beer. Dunno how it'll turn out, nor how close to a weisse it'll be. But who cares. It'll be beer.

    DIY Stainless Steel Fermenters

On the topic of gaskets, I just watched a video from barley and hops brewing on how to make a still, where they poured a custom silicone gasket using a Clay mold. Pretty interesting stuff..

    First time jaom!

My og was low at 1.114. the bitter wasn't overly strong. It sort of reminded me of orange Marmalade.

    First time jaom!

It's a meter that uses resonance and timing to measure a liquid s density. Basically a high tech hydrometer. I like it because it takes a very small sample compared to a typical hydrometer.. small as in just a few CC s like you'd use for an refractometer, but unlike a refractometer I can...

    First time jaom!

Been a long while. Life got in the way. I left the fermenter in the corner until this afternoon. I bottled 4x750ml wine bottles plus a good couple oz for sampling. I stirred up some sediment while bottling, but that should settle out in the bottles. FG came in at 1.001 resulting in a 14.8%...

    My mostly automated brucontrol setup

I am unsure how often they must be calibrated. I calibrate every once in a while when I remember that it's been a while. I've yet to see it read incorrectly. To calibrate you just put distilled water through it and tell the app to calibrate. I love that it can measure starting gravity, and...

    My mostly automated brucontrol setup

Buying one of those was probably the best purchases I've made in my brewing journey. I've never used anything easier, faster, more accurate. Plus it doesn't waste a ton of liquid per sample.

    Problem with new Riptide Pump

Do you notice any decrease in performance of the pump when the Teflon is new and the impeller is tight on the shaft? How much of the Teflon is left when it's time to replace it?
