My next brew - What do you think of the recipe?

So my next brew is going to be a New Castle Brown Ale clone. This is only my second batch, so I am still gonna use some extract as well as grains. I've found a bunch of recipes, but this one seems like something I can handle. I will be doing a 3 gallon boil and making a 5 gallon batch. 3.3lb...

    First Batch done!

With all the odds against me, my first batch is finally done. And it's actually good! :mug: Here it is, American Wheat Ale. Sorry about the picture, I only have my phone camera. Everyone that I've let try it says it tastes like a craft beer they would buy in a store. Nice wheat flavor, a...

First Batch - Should be fermented, Gravity way off

I just followed the directions that came with the kit :( There was nothing on the bottom of the pot when I was done. I have a large pot, big enough that I could at least do 3-4 gallons. Ill have to do that next time. I gave it a good shake. I'll keep everyone updated. After I do a few...

First Batch - Should be fermented, Gravity way off

Thanks guys. At this point, I almost wish I wouldn't have done a full extract. My next brew is gonna have some grains.

First Batch - Should be fermented, Gravity way off

When I had the lid off, I could see a few very small bubbles coming from the wart every once in a while. Maybe I'll give it another day or two and see if I can get the FG where it needs to be.

First Batch - Should be fermented, Gravity way off

I didn't take an OG reading, however it is supposed to be between 1.049 - 1.051 Final Gravity is supposed to be 1.012 - 1.014 I did a 1 1/2 gallon boil for 30 minutes. I used two cans of unhopped wheat ME, hop pellets (1 oz), and an ale yeast. Hops at beginning of boil. After boil, filled...

First Batch - Should be fermented, Gravity way off

Well all signs of fermentation seem to have stopped. As some of you may be aware, fermentation was so intense the day after brewing that it blew my air lock across the room. Fermentation started for sure, I'm just not sure that it has finished. Yesterday I took a gravity reading, and again...

    First Problem! Airlock blew off.

Is it something about wheat beers that causes more CO2 to be released?

    First Problem! Airlock blew off.

Yes. I was using the Airlock correctly. I just found it kind of humorous that it shot to the other side of the room.

    First Problem! Airlock blew off.

Is a blow off hose something I could make using supplies from the hardware store? Does anyone have a picture of this set-up

    First Problem! Airlock blew off.

Well I read up on this topic, but I just wanted some reassurance. I finished my wart yesterday (American Wheat Extract Kit) around 3. All was well last time my room mate check on it for me. It was bubbling late last night. However, this morning, he called me and found this. I am not home...
