    First Brew

I hope it turns out well and I sanitized enough. Will find out in a few weeks.

    First Brew

It is the temp that the sticker thermometer reads. I would assume that is the beer temp. I got the wort down to about 75 and then put 2 gallons on cold water into the fermenter with the wort. I will keep an eye on it as it begins to ferment a little more.

    First Brew

I figured as much. The rest or the process went fine so I think it will turn out great. The tep says it is at 66 right now so that is almost perfect. The OG was also right on!

    Brew pot

I use a granite ware pot and it works great.

    First Brew

Put in the yeast and it was a bit stuck together. Is it going to still have the same effect? We stirred it and everything for a few minutes. Is it still going to ferment just fine?

    A few quick questions

Sweet thanks. It sounds like I can either rehydrate yeast or just toss it in. I think I will rehydrate it. As for the trub I think I will pick up a funnel with a screen on it.

    A few quick questions

When transferring your wort to primary, do you pore or siphon? Also how do you get the trub to stay out of the primary? With a dry packet of yeast, do you do the water method or just pore it straight into primary?

    off taste

I have the same kit and am brewing on Friday. While we are on the topic of yeast, where did you store the yeast prior to brewing?

    Cooking pot

Can you use stainless steel pots that have previously been used for other things? I know you can't if it is an aluminum pot but wasn't sure about ss

Yes it is a granite wear pot. Big enough to hold water.

    Enamled pot

Would a pot with a ceramic coating work for brewing?

    Cleaning and storage

So basically clean everything like you would any other normal dish, and then store it covered?

    Cleaning and storage

After you brew your beer, how does everyone go about cleaning and storing all of their brewing equipment (brew kettle and all other accessories)? Planning on brewing my first batch on Thursday or Friday, and want to have it planned out.

    S/S Pot worth the money?

Ya, found that earlier, was thinking about pulling the trigger. Problem is, I don't really want to get a flimsy cheap pot. I would rather spend a few extra bucks and get something a little better. I think I will wait until I find one in a store that I can touch.

    Great deal for beginners!

Gotcha, I just keep searching online and finding similar kits to mine for a few dollars cheaper and am like damnit. I guess I just need to move on haha
